  • Problem with GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 rev1.3

Hi new to the forum, appreciate your help.

    Just created this new system:
    VGA Brand : INTEL Model : HD3000
    CPU Brand : Intel Model : I5-2500K
    Operation System : Win 7 64-bit
    Memory Brand : Kingston Type : DDR3
    Memory Size : 8GB Speed : 1333
    Power Supply : 450 W
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Model Name : GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3(rev. 1.3)
    --------------------------
    M/B Rev : 1.3
    BIOS Ver : F8

    Problem:
When connecting my Dell E228WFP monitor to my system through the DVI port I am having a problem with the power save mode in windows 7.
In power management I set the monitor to shut off after 5 minutes.
When the time comes for the monitor to shut off the message on the monitor states "Entering Power Save". The monitor then goes black with the backlight still on for 3 seconds then the message shows again. This repeats over and over. I noticed if at this point I press the power button on the monitor and then press it again the monitor stays off until I move the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard.

    Diagnosis:
I have tested the following configurations and their results:
    1) Attaching another monitor via VGA port - PSM (power save mode) functions normally
    2) Attaching Dell monitor via VGA port - PSM functions normally
    3) Attached Samsung TV using DVI cable connecting to the TV via DVI-HDMI converter, plugging into DVI on the MBoard. - PSM did not seem to work, it flashed on the TV that the mode is not supported and would not power save.

i think your best bet is to email gigabyte directly, tell them your monitor model number and that it wont enter power saving with that mb in dvi, maybe you need a dual dvi cable? dvi-d? it should just go black/turn off but monitor power light should stay on. until you move mouse ect

Hey, thanks for the response. I created a Technical support ticket through the GTS system on Oct 27th. No answer yet. Hopefully I hear back from them soon.
