Was it made before Nov 2008? if not it's still under warrenty. (first 4 digits in s/n represent manufacturing date as YYWW(year/week), GB board carry a 3 years warrenty by GB).

Even if it is not under warrenty it's still sold so they should support it, if it's just a BIOS fix is needed they'll do it sooner or later but they must be aware of it.

Actually it might still be under warranty I will try and locate the serial number.

The motherboard is still under warranty but will cost too much to ship it out and I can't be without a PC for that long. I guess I will just have to live with the problem.

you wont notice any performance loss at 8x,maybe slightly if your running 3 monitors and super high resolution but not much,id still like to know whats causing it though

I don't think it's physical problem with the board. Report it to GB support and they may fix it in future BIOS release.

I did a clean windows 7 install today on a spare hard drive to rule out any OS issues and the problem remains.
