That usually the message you get after a BSOD. If windows is set to reboot automatically that's probably what happened.
Look at the event viewer for critical events and see if you can find the BSOD code(if there is one).

I was unable to pinpoint the error code, as I couldn't remember the exact time. I'll make sure I check it right away after next time - didn't even know you could do that

      I clicked down to 473 x 9 x 946.
Memtest #5 (1) pass was successful, as was IBT (2 minutes idle at desktop):

      <img src = http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2482/ibt2minuteidle.png>

I can run Long FFT now, unless you want me to switch it back to 4.25 and try to repeat the error?

Going up with CPU frequency with no gain in GFlops is meaningless. See if you get more few clicks above.
Try a going up FSB to find the point it fails.

While I was waiting to hear back I figured I would try to repeat the test. Think I found it:

            0x00000124 is VTT/references settings.
Set VTT up a notch or 2, then we must work the references, but we need less stable settings so memtest86+ will fail, takes too long to boot to windows with each change.

Sounds good, so I'll run 3.25 again and work the references the way you described in previous posts (after trying VVT). Should I leave VVT at 1-2 up while I work the references, or switch it back down if it doesn't help?

Leave it up one click, but remember to make the changes when it is set to 1.2 and then set it back to 1.22.

With settings at 473 x 9.0 x 946 (2.00D), I followed the methods in post #140 to adjust references, VTT, and clock skews. Here are my attempts:

                  Changed VVT to 1.22:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

                  Changed VVT to 1.24:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

Clicked down VVT to 1.22 for all the remaining tests as per:

Then, Changed MCH Ref to 0.720:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

                  MCH Reference to 0.700

                  MCH Reference to 0.680
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

Then changed MCH Core to 1.240 for the following tests:
                  MCH Reference 0.720:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

                  MCH Reference 0.74:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

With MCH Reference at 0.74, I changed CPU Reference (with all references, I did remember to click down VTT first, so they're reported in their adjusted settings).
                  CPU Reference 0.772:

I'm now working on these instructions:

I would also try 50-100ps on each of the clock skews(the other on 0) with the most stable(but not nesessaraly stable) settings for each VTT (1.2, 1.22, 1.24)
So far I've done the following:

                  With VVT at 1.240,

                  MCH Reference 0.74:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

                  MCH Reference 0.72:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

                  MCH Reference 0.70:
                  Failed IBT - BSOD

I will continue with CPU above and below default with the higher VVT (1.24) and the difference MCH References. Then I will try the clock skews. I'll check back periodically in case you'd rather try something else based on the data. I was, unfortunately, doing several things at once during these tests so I was unable to record the BSOD screen, and just assumed we were running into the same one every time. That probably wasn't necessarily a good assumption, and I found out how to disable windows automatic reboot so will be able to capture the BSOD code going forward.

Try higher vcore also, so you experimenting with clock skews now?

                    To disable automatic reboot:
                    right click (my) comuter
                    click propertires
                    click advanced system settings(win 7) / select advanced(xp)
                    click startup and recovery :settings"
                    uncheck "automaticaly restart"
                    click OK
                    click OK

Strange enough, my "automaticaly restart is checked and I still get the BSOD, could be because of the write to dump file?

Yes, I unchecked to automatically restart, and with VVt 1.24, MCH Ref 0.74 and CPU Ref 0.810 I got a BSOD and took a photo with my iphone:

0x00000124 was the code. Also Windows provided me details on restart as:

Right now, I'm trying the previous method but with VVT at 1.24 (first the MCH references, then CPU references while at the various MCH References (0.74, 0.72, 0.70). The previous combinations I tried with references were with VVT at 1.22, so I'm trying this. If you'd rather me try the skews first I can do that too - just let me know which MCH / CPU references to try them at - MCH at 0.74 and VVT 1.22 I would guess?

                        Take a look at Dan's E8400 settings.
I'm NOT recommending that you try these settings, but just to see what it took using a brute force approach without using skew settings.

Whoah, over 0.1 V Vcore above stock and an extremely high MCH Reference -- that can't be good...

At VVT 1.240, MCH Ref 0.72, CPU Ref 0.810 (Sorry, through all these tests I've been giving MCH Ref at their stock vvt value and CPU Reference at their adjusted. I should probably be more consistent):

                            Instead of BSOD I got:

                            <img src = http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/2073/ibt.png>
                            <img src = http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/5896/ibt2.png>

I'm not sure if this is useful information, but figured I would report it anyways. I did get this same thing once before at other settings, but forgot to take a screen shot. Upon trying to reproduce it, I had gotten a BSOD the second time.

EDIT: I ran the test again at the same settings, and got the same error (unlike last time, upon which - as described - I got a BSOD the second time).
