Re: New OCZ SSD - Expert advice requested

Sorry about the 2.40B suggestion for the memory multiplier, as this will run your memory at 800MHz.
    I meant to say try the 3.20B memory multiplier for 333 x 3.20 = 1066MHz.
If your memory tests OK, we can try a modest cpu overclock up to try 360 x 3.20 = 1152MHz.
Once you're happy with new stable settings, we can improved the tRD = 9 setting.
If you currently have Performance Enhance = Turbo, this might be part of the problem.
This is why it's best to post your bios settings using the EP45 bios template in the thread that I linked to.

      CPU Clock Drive ---------------- : 800mv
      PCI Express Clock Drive -------- : 900mv
      CPU Clock Skew (ps) ------------ : 0ps
      MCH Clock Skew (ps) ------------ : 0ps

And Turbo is definately off. It is set to Standard. I dont trust "auto" bios clockers... since the days of old Abit mobos... heh

The ram is linked here: OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 Reaper HPC 4GB Edition *EOL - OCZ

Poor cores 0 and 1, temp sensors are stuck... and ET6 wont run on my pc for some reason...

Anyway, I will reset to 3.20B... do you want an updated SS? Thanks btw...

Re: New OCZ SSD - Expert advice requested

Your screen-shot is good, tRD = 7 is the current setting and this is OK for 333MHz.
Too much beer aside, it looks like you're telling the truth with most of your settings.
Have you downloaded the latest version of ET6 and tried to install it? If not, go to the GB web page for your mobo's version and click on download, then download type = utility and select EasyTune6.

Memtest86+ v4.2 is a good preliminary testing tool but you need to follow up with Prime95 tests to confirm that your system is really stable.

Using the 3.20B memory multiplier, run two full loops of Memtest86+ and if there are no errors, follow up with a second test where you run test #5 for 10 loops. If the first test runs error free, at the end of the second full loop, press the following keys:
C 1 3 5 ENTER 0 (zero). The full test will probably take about 50 minutes and the #5 test will probably complete all 10 loops in less than one hour.

Are you familiar with running Prime95 Blend and Large FFT tests?

I need to clean the dust bunnies out of my system and install some new hardware, so I'll be offline in about an hour. Post back if you have any questions.

**edit** I forget to say that the clock drive/skew settings show that loading Optimized Bios settings has been done.
These settings should never be manually set unless you really know what you're doing ;)

Great, sounds like you're good to go.
I'll be online for another hour if you have any further questions.
            Happy testing!!

BTW, my HT Omega Striker sound card plays very nicely with win7 and w2k.
Tonight I'll be moving the Striker to my backup system and installing the HT Omega Claro plus+ sound card.
I expect that this will be an even better marriage with my Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones.

Re: New OCZ SSD - Expert advice requested

                Excellent start!!
Be sure to include EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed) with your next screen-shot.

If there are any Prime95 errors, include the Prime95 window that shows which worker thread(s) failed. This will also let us know which FFT test failed and how long each worker thread ran until an error occurred. An overnight test is best where the test can run 6 - 10 hours or longer. If a single error occurs, stop the test and post a screen-shot like your first screen-shot, and include ET6 and the Prime95 window.

                **edit**
The ET6 Dram Voltage is below the allowed 2.20 - 2.25 values. If your stress test completes without errors, leave it where it is for now. If there are errors, manually set the voltage to 2.10 or 2.20 volts and retest. We can always lower the voltage later and test again after your system is stable. If you need to increase the voltage, save settings, exit, and reboot into the bios PC Health screen and note what the Dram voltage is in this screen.

and I'll have to run prime tomorrow as the pc is in our bedroom for the moment and the mrs can't sleep with it on... 5x120mm fans, a 140mm and the Zalman at full blast isn't too quiet... Haha.

also wanting to confirm you want me running the primes at stock CPU and 3.20B multi for 1066 Ram?
Thanks for your help again sir!

Re: New OCZ SSD - Expert advice requested

Yes, test with 1066MHz with the 3.20B multiplier, until your system passes both Prime95 tests.
My personal preference is to run the Blend test first, followed by the large FFT test.
The large FFT test is a more demanding memory test, and the Blend test runs a wider variety of FFT sizes which works more of a balance between cpu and memory.
If your Prime95 tests are error free, feel free to rigorously test your system with the most demanding games or applications you have.
Check my added DRAM voltage comments in post #22.

Glad to help out, keep up the good work.

just passed 6 hours of blend and large ffts. No errors. With your help I can definately dial her in! And hopefully it was the bios and not the ram...

another note- highest temp was 55c on one core, I may apply new TIM, the as5 I have on here is at least 2 years old.
