  • GA-EP45T-USB3P CrossfireX question

    Hey all,

I recently came into the above listed mobo and I have an old Intel Q9300 chip, and I'm thinking of putting together a modest gaming rig with a couple of Radeon 6850's.

I've been reading a bit about this board on various sites, and I've read in a few places something that the 2nd PCIx16 slot will only run @ x8 if USB 3.0 support is enabled. So I'm wondering if it's true, and if disabling USB 3 support will enable my second PCIx16 slot.

Hopefully that makes sense - this is my first experience with a Gigabyte mobo and I don't even have it in front of me yet, but it looks like quite a nice 775 mobo and as long as I can get Crossfire enabled, I'm pretty stoked to have gotten this for (basically) free.

I think if you disable usb3 it runs both pcie at 16x but I'm not 100% sure on that, what I am sure of though is even if second pcie slot runs at 8x you wouldn't see much if any performance loss, maybe at super high res or multiple monitors but not much

Well, maybe 8x wouldn't cause a drastic drop in performance, but I'd rather not see any drop in performance when the solution could be as simple as disabling a feature that I don't even need, y'know? My rez. is 1920/1080 btw

Yes I agree, but you wouldn't max out the pcie even at 8x,with that res you'll be fine,I'm pretty sure it only gets reduced if usb3 is enabled, its same for p55 dunno about that mb though

          Re: GA-EP45T-USB3P CrossfireX question

If you enable USB 3.0 then yes they will run at x8, but if you are not using USB 3.0 you can disable that and they will run at x16/x8
