  • Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3 (Mini ITX AMD E-350) - Dolby Digital Encoder ?

Gigabyte's page GIGABYTE - Motherboard - BGA FT1 - GA-E350N-USB3 (rev. 1.0) lists the GA-E350N-USB3 as having "Dolby Home Theater Support".

Does this mean it can do Dolby Digital encoding, and hence pass 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio from it's SPDIF port (I believe this is called Dolby Digital Live) ?

I've got an older amp with no HDMI input, and no Analogue input - it's 5.1 support is limited to DD or DTS through SPDIF.

Probably does, did you grab the manual yet? If not grab the manual as I'm sure it covers all the Dolby options.

If the manual is no help you'll need to ask Gigabyte directly to be sure, you can do that here

I've just had a look at the manual.

Dolby Digital Live 5.1 does show in one of the screenshots in the Audio section - but it's not actually mentioned anywhere in text form.

I think I'll have to contact Gigabyte to be sure !

Ya, it would probably be best if you need to be 100% for sure.

Or, maybe this will help? Info on the Realtek audio chip used on the board.
