  • just some questions

ok so ive been testing and overclocking for the past 2 days.. and still not getting as much as i can out of it.. at least that is my opinion..

the question im asking is... is it better to have the fsb up and multiplier lower?
or the other way around? noone seems to be able to answer me these questions..

i hope u guys can help me out a bit
tbh im wiling to xperiment with it.. as im trying to get the most out of it for the time being...
here are some screens .. though the multiplier vs fsb is what im interested in. and if that should i up the nb freq and ht link? or leave em at x10..

ram is running at 1446 i have corsair 1600 but if i up it to the next tick in bios it jumps to 1720 due to the fact that my fsb is upped..

    tbh thanks in advance

a nice smash crashcourse would be great.. i tried many times and still cannot get a stable oc.. due to the fact that i dont now exactly which things to overclock.. i tried overclocking all,, nb, multiplier, fsb, ram... and ended up w a crash in a stress test

    Re: just some questions

dont ask me how but i think i mighve hit a sweet spot .. im very surprised i did.. though im still curious if i can improve it a bit more.. atm its running at 36-37c idle

and atm the motherboard only reads the ram as 1333 instead of 1600 .. i have the options to change it in bios but then my ram jumps to 1800+.. and no clue if it can handle it.. mb supports it even higher

      Re: just some questions

The picture show memory is at 1524 (767x2) 230 ref. clock x 6.66 memory multiplier.
CPU frequency = ref. cloc x CPU multiplier.
Memory frequency(rated) = ref. clock x memory multiplier.
Greater bus speed normally result in better memory performance.
Memory timings are not fixed figurs, they may change with memory frequency.
Higher frequency often require some of the voltages to be higher than defaults.

so can my memory run at 1866?.. the mb supports it... i can change the ref clock to the max with is x 8.00 .. though .. then i will need to adjust the timings and i have no ideea on what to set it to.. or how much voltage is requied above the 1.65 that i have it at atm

btw my timings on the memory are at 9 9 9 24 1t

          Re: just some questions

You can always try with timings 11-11-11-28 or 10-11-11-28, but manufacturer tested them for 1600 only.
Even if they do run with those settings,, check memory performance to see if there is any gain(or lose).

will do thanks m8.. im getting started on it right now.. ill let you know how they go

            [B]

this is how they are atm.. ill test it at 1866 with those timings you suggested

              Re: just some questions

tried to up the multiplier to x 8.0 but the system crashes.. so i had to revert back th the old ones :(.. although this time i set everything to auto except the voltage.. i kept tat at 1.650..

                Re: just some questions

Yes not like they can do much over 1600.
I am not familiar with Phenom II memory performance but it looks good to me.
BTW, Alt+PrintScreen will capture the active window only or you can crop the desired screen area to make smaller images that can be attached to the post.
