  • Bios limitation on GA-P45-UD3R

    I have a GA-P45-UD3R

I needed to run a virus scan at boot using a USB Pen Drive. When I went into bios I was only offered a choice of Floppy, LS 120,Hard Disk, CD Rom, Zip, USB FDD, USB Zip, USB CDrom,USB HDD,Legacy Lan, or Disabled. There is no option to use a USB Pen Drive. I tried the CD boot disc and it will work but it took over 3-1/2 hours of listening to cd drive grinding away. . I am using the new Kasperky Rescue Iso for both CD and USB pen drive.

Is there anyway to get the Bios to see the Usb pen drive ?

Sure. USB drives show as HD.
At boot time press F12, and from the menu select Hard Disk + (something like that) and the USB drive will show as HDD 0-0 or USB 0-0, select and press enter.

You must also be sure that you have Legacy USB Storage or USB Storage Detect enabled in the Integrated Peripherals BIOS section.
