  • GA-H55M-UD2H won't accept 8 GIGs of RAM

    Board revision is v1.3
    BIOS is F11

Have tried to install 8 GIGS of RAM on fresh build with this board.

    (4 sticks) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

    (4 sticks) A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-2G

Board will not boot with 4 sticks installed.

What settings are recommended for either set of above RAM?

    Thank you.

try setting qpi/vtt to 1.315v and set dram voltage according to the ram, either 1.5v or 1.66v

Those voltages aren't present as selections.

Data on current ram installed (two gig sticks for total of 4)

      G-Skill
      CL 9 9 9 24 1.5v

Will try the ADATA which says it's dual channel at next power down.

you should be able to adjust the qpi/vtt and dram voltages?does it boot with just 4gb of ram in the white slots?

Re: GA-H55M-UD2H won't accept 8 GIGs of RAM

the ram wont boot if its just installed in the blue slots,it has to be in the white slots only for 4gb and all the slots for 8gb(white and blue)

you need to look in the bios in the m.i.t section/advanced voltages and manually set dram voltage to 1.5 and qpi/vtt voltage to around 1.30000v,leave everything else as it is

Guess I'll just have to chalk it up to a bad Mobo (since two different types of DDR3 1600 RAM).

The Mobo & CPU was bundle deal from NewEgg, so expect them to work properly together. Went with the ADATA originally, but when then didn't work, went back and ordered the G-Skill as it was NewEgg's recommended RAM for this Mobo.

Guess I can try two 4 Gig sticks later on, and try to RMA the G-SKILL.

              Unless you have further recommendations.

              Thank you.

Re: GA-H55M-UD2H won't accept 8 GIGs of RAM

ahh so only one ram slot is working?? test each stick in the first white ram slot from cpu socket, then reapet the test on the other white ram slot,it will boot into windows if its working

if its not a faulty ram module, then it could be a bent cpu socket pin,be carefull when checking not to damage anything but check to see if any cpu socket pins are bent, that will cause you to lose ram

Re: GA-H55M-UD2H won't accept 8 GIGs of RAM

Again, thank you for the suggestions.

I did run all 8 sticks through the process to ensure they weren't bad. They all work.

Individually, and in RAM slots 1 & 2. But nothing will allow all 4 sticks to run in slots 1 through 4.

There are no pins per-say on the CPU. They are the flat copper nodules that mesh up against the flat modules of the CPU socket. The chip is seated properly with proper thermal grease & a good Miscool heatsink & fan.

Not sure what else to attempt other then a Mobo replacement, but the time it takes to RMA is unacceptable as can't afford to have the system down for the time it takes to send the board back and a replacement sent back out (estimate about 30-40 days).
Working with vendor to see if they'll send replacement board first then return current one, which I believe is defective with RAM slot 3.

                  Thanks again.

                    Update

Finally after weeks of emails with Gigabyte & Newegg, got a replacement Mobo.

Everything fired up perfectly with replacement board.

                    Board auto-detected RAM.

In the end it was a bad Mobo.

Nice to hear you got this sorted out!

Sounded to me like bent pins in the CPU socket, he didn't mean the CPU itself. When there bent pins memory channels often fail.
