Around 2 months ago I built up this PC
Phenom II 955
GA-890GPA-UD3H
8GB DDR3 Kingmax 1600MHz (4 x 2GB Sticks)
1TB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Zotac GTX460 1GB
Thermaltake Litepower 500W
Thermaltake Armor A90 Case.
We were having issues with the machine crashing during games and youtube (flash) videos. After a fresh Windows install to a new SSD, the crashes still occur. We believe we have fixed the flash issue by disabling both the energy saver service and the jmicron controller service, not sure which one fixed it- however the machine is still crashing in games. It appears the problems were unrelated.
We have tried using the following to narrow down the cause:
- Test power supply
- Fresh operating system install
- Test video card, another GTX460 (same brand)
- Two different sets of memory, both which test fine. (24+ Hours of Memtest86+ 4.1)
Games crashing are Napoleon total war, Starcraft 2 and Black Ops
No Overclocking done, all Temps OK (even has a Thermaltake ISGC300 CPU cooler).
I will be trying a board swap (with the same model).
