  • Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 intermittent reboot

Really strange - it seems to happen consistently when there is some activity, even light, a couple of times every day or so. Suspected PSU and line power, put it on UPS (an APC XS with AVR), Still same issue. It is Windows XP SP3 on an Intel I3-570 and Kingston DDR3 10600, case microATX CoolerMaster Elite 342 with its own 450W PSU. Ran Memtest86+ for hours with no error. Using "safe defaults" in BIOS, removed most of startup stuff, moved swap file to another partition - still the same reboot pattern.Finding in the system Eventlog random system errors. Please help - did anyone have similar issues with this MOBO? Should I just RMA it or it might be a different issue?

its probably a bios setting even at stock its best to set manual voltages and ram timings

set cpu voltage to normal setting in voltage list, whats qpi/vtt voltage at? if 1.1v set to 1.2v
set dram and timings according to spec usually 1.5v or 1.66v,to set timings look for spd and set manual then set timings to quick and type in the timings

      Re: Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 intermittent reboot

      From the mobo user manual:
When the system is not stable as usual, select the Load Optimized Defaults item to set your system to its defaults.
Fail-Safe bios defaults should NOT be used.

You should start by loading Optimized Bios defaults and then make any needed bios changes.
Instability can occur with stock speeds and settings. Some minor bios tweaks are required for a stable system.

Use a standard text editor to fill in the P55/P57 bios template with your bios settings and post your settings along with the following info:
      • CPU = Model #
      • Motherboard = Model, Revision #
      • BIOS Version =
      • Ram = Brand, Model#, Part#, And or Link
Adding a detailed system hardware list to your forum signature will let us better help you.
Have you checked system event logs to see if there is any information that might help point to the problem?

Note: Using an older bios version might be part of the problem.

        Re: Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 intermittent reboot

Start with Optimized Defaults in the BIOS, not Fail Safe.

Then you need to set your ram voltage, and possibly QPI/Vtt voltage depending on what ram you are using.
