  • GA-MA785GM-US2H no power in mobo, cannot boot

    Hi, all.

I got new mobo GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H and AMD Phenom II x3 Black Edition.
    RAM is Kingston 2x1GB DDR2.
It seems like there is no power in mobo at all.
I started with my old 350W Chieftec PSU (which is perfectly working with other mobo and CPU) and now I got a new one nonbrand 600W PSU.

I still have no power in my mobo. Sometimes CPU fan turns (just one turn) and sometimes not evene that.

I have checked my standings (all 8 of them are in place).

    Any help, please?

    Thanks.

What exact X3 CPU do you have?

Also, what board revision do you have? It's printed in the corner on the board by the PCI slots normally.

You may need an older CPU to flash the BIOS with, but I'll need to know your exact CPU and board revision first before I could advise on that.

Are you sure you have the 4/8 Pin QTX 12C cable connected? Do you have a case speaker connected, if not hook one up if possible and see if it gives you any error beeps.

Have you tried it out of the case, and OFF the motherboard tray, on a box or wooden table? If not try that to check to be sure you do not have any shorts.

It was a typo about CPU. It is not x3.
It is x2 560 AMD Phenom II 3.3 GHz. Brand new, out of the box, never used before.

      Mobo rev is 3.3.
      Also brand new.

I have connected the speaker, but there is no sound.

About other wires, I think I got it all according to the book (2x4 and 1x24, Cpu fan, system fan, floppy, hdd, dvd...) North bridge fan is not connected, because I do not have any 3 pin connectors on my PSU.

I will take it out of the case and put it on its own card box and try it.

      Thank you :)

The CPU may be the problem, I don't see it listed in the CPU list at all, not even as unsupported
          GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Socket AM2+ - AMD 785G - GA-MA785GM-US2H (rev. 3.3)

Do you have an older one you can test with to be sure the board is OK?

Re: GA-MA785GM-US2H no power in mobo, cannot boot

            I have.
Old CPU Athlon 64 3200+ doesn't work on this mobo.
This CPU is AM2 and it is listed on the link above.
            I can't test new CPU. I don't have AM3 mb.

Any other ideas or should I return it?

            Thanks.

Re: GA-MA785GM-US2H no power in mobo, cannot boot

Well if the other AM2 CPU fails as well then I think it may be a faulty board then.

I'd go ahead and return it for replacement if you can.

Let us know if you RMA the board, and if so how you do that and how long it takes.

Good luck, hopefully it's just a faulty board and you can get that traded out quickly.

I am having a similar problem. I got my GA-MA785GM-US2H mobo and connected everything with a 450W power supply. I am running 2x1 GB of Kingston RAM 667mhz, a AMD Phenom x4 9750, a USB PCI card, a Network PCI card. Also, an Nvidia GeForce GT220. When I turn on the computer everything starts but no display. I took everything out and still the same thing, no beeps without any RAM, no response from the board it seems. I am wondering if I am using too low of a power supply or maybe I need a certain connector for the power supply. I see the 8-pin but I dont have an 8-pin. The manual says that the 4 pin is compatible.

I would also like to add that the revision is 3.3

Do you have a case speaker connected? If not then you wont hear any beeps, so just checking.

You can use 4 pin PSU cable, it should be ok as long as the PSU is good enough and compatible. You do have the 24 pin cable connected correct?

And you do have power cables connected to your video card if needed right?
