Gigabyte 5850 OC

i think i have a dying 5850 its your OC version that has 2 fans.

I've tried to run 3dmark vantage 20 times.
its worked once.
This is at all stock settings on everything. It freezes at some random point in either GT1 or GT2 since the first run it hasn't made it to the CPU test let alone complete GT2.

I've tried 2 OS installs and 4 drivers. Driver versions:10.4, 10.6, 10.8, and 10.9. Ive also got 10.5 and 10.7 that i will try tomorrow.

Razer Deathadder
Logitech G15

the power supply is fine because it is holding furmark load for about an hour and a half now. only thing i can think of it being is the videocard.

Hmm, do you have or can you borrow another GFX card to test in your system, just to be sure if it's the card or not.

If not, can you test your card in another system?

ill try and test the card in another system but no promises. i would have to have a friend do it. no other computers are powerful enough. only other thing in the house with a pci-e slot is an old 939 or 754 single core, but it only has a 250 watt psu

well linX was being a failure and not stressing my computer yet it claimed it was. so i fired up prime 95

it stopped on worker 3 after 9 minutes. doing a memtest now.

any driver version should be stable,ive gone from 10.4-10.9 now and all were stable and crash free,seems like a memory issue,either on pc or gpu,i would say pc side of things if prime95 is failing

ran memtest and on 124% of the ram there were 0 errors

what qpi/vtt voltage are you using? and try with one or two clicks more on ioh and ich core

this i AMD...

but i think i found my problem. after benching super pi i had set all my voltages to auto including the ram. so the board was probably only giving 1.5 volts instead of 1.66. lets see if that worked

ahh i forgot about amd,if you had voltages on auto it will probably overvolt things so i would manually set dram voltage and cpu voltage(dont know much about amd)

no on amd it gives the minimum amt of volts to be stable or the JEDEC volts if everything is set to auto

so it gave my ram 1.5 and not 1.66

Ya, sounds like this is all CPU/Memory and nothing to do with the graphics card really.

Good luck tweaking, keep at it you will get it!

i was like wtf during furmark also, because the error it gave me was the displa driver has stopped working
