  • UD9 won't post - error code C1

    As title says.

And yeah, I'm using an i7 970 which I suspect that I need to update the BIOS but I can't because I don't have an older CPU. Is there a way I can get this board to boot if it isn't a outdated BIOS with a newer CPU issue? I've already changed my RAM and so on, same error.

Odd one, C1 is normally a memory incompatibility issue, did you test with memory that is known to be compatible or is on the QVL? b8/68 and sometimes 88 is what you normally see with an incompatible CPU

Cleared CMOS fully already I take it? The BIOS may support your CPU, or may not, same applies with the memory so it could be either one stopping it at this point unless you are sure of the memory compatibility. And without being able to know what BIOS it is it's very hard to say for sure if even known compatible memory is compatible because if it's an old BIOS it may not support memory that is now know to work with it using the new BIOSes.

You will need an old CPU to find out for sure I think, if a good old 920 fails with C1 it's the memory for sure.

Yeah I already cleared the CMOS, same result. As I said earlier, I already tried it with two different RAM, though both are G.Skill and I checked the memory compatibility list and it says its compatible with the UD9. I took out my CPU and tried booting the board, though without the CPU it displays 88 instead and turns on for a second and then off.

try taking the board to a local pc shop and ask them if they can plop in a 920 chip and update the bios for you, they may have other types of ram to try aswell, take the latest bios on a usb stick with you if you have one
