Hi Everyone,

my system has slowed down a lot in the last days while doing CPU intensive applications like zipping large files. There are no crashs, freezes or bluescreens.




i checked so far:

• all temps are OK
• CPU, mem and disc load is below 50%
• hdtune and memtest are OK
• no viruses

only problem i found is that the 5V+ rail is at 3.7V.

question:
what is actually still supplied by 5V+ in a modern PC (HD, DVD, PCI-cards ??) could this be the reason for a huge performance decrease?

What are you checking that 5V rail with? If that voltage is correct that may mean your PSU is about to die on you.

I'd check with the latest Everest or latest HWmonitor and see if you see the same voltages. Also check your BIOS PC Health section, if the 5V is listed there that is.

I shouldn't affect performance I wouldn't think, but I guess it could? 5v supplies a lot of devices in the PC
