GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 build not posting

Hi, I am trying to help my friend over the phone with a new build that is not POSTing.

He has tried various configurations down to just hooking up the mobo w/ cpu to the power supply, but he cannot even hear any beeps.

First question: Does this motherboard have a built in speaker? Or do we need to buy one to hear POST beeps?

Second: Could this be anything but a dead motherboard or power supply?

you need to buy a mb speaker as they dont come with one,makesure the 4 or 8 pin cpu power plug is plugged into the mb,
install the ram into the white slots only,what brand of psu are you using? tried with another one?

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply!

We were wasting a lot of time trying to determine if the motherboard was dead since we were getting no beeps. Thanks for the info on the speaker.

We turned our attention to the video card, and after plugging in another power cable to it everything is working fine now.

ahh glad you got it going,its still worth picking up a mb speaker in the future as they come in handy,they plug in the mb at the bottom where the front panel power switch wires are and looklike this

Nice to see you got it going!

The Video card should have beeped without the power cables connected, but I guess maybe not all of them do
