Re: GA-EX58A-UD3R and 2 x Gigabyte GTX 465 SLI posting issue

I tried without usb & sata 3, it made no difference at all.

I suspect the problem will be noticed with the model and eventually a bios will release addressing the card compatibility issue.

but I also know (as gigabyte support mentioned to me) that the problem is not soley to do with the board, but actually to do with the cards too.

I was pretty upset to find that it could not even SLI stable on a completely differently branded board.

If I had the option of talking them into an ATI card, I would've done that weeks ago tbh, but put simply we don't want to get stuck with the cards. they're no good to anyone if they have issues in sli with aero enabled, who knows how long it'll take until a bios is supplied to fix that.

the unfortunate part of it all is I have two GB motherboards, only reliably sellable if done so with ATI cards, and can get stuck with 1 - 3 GB NV cards which cannot reliably sli together, which also dont work on GB boards at all.

The problem will have to be addressed in one way or another tomorrow because I wont be in that workplace after tomorrow morning, I wont be able to keep testing on the system, so I will push to see if they will accept a credit and use the system with the asus board with a single card, then I can just enable Aero and they can be on their way.

So yeah, if they do insist on using surround+sli, I cant help them underclock it, only to tell them that the problem is with the 3D clocks and they have to either clock back the cards or disable aero if they keep 2 cards.

The card problem is one really annoying issue, but the x58aud3r rev2s not working with some graphics cards completely was a real eye opener, I tried FA, FB11, FB16 (and FB18 unreleased) with no resolution to this serious problem.

At lease some people will be able to draw some conclusion by seeing this thread if they have the GB 465's or X58A-UD3R Rev2's and have trouble. They, can save themselves the time knowing there is no real configuration which fixes it so far and can go and change their hardware right away.

Re: GA-EX58A-UD3R and 2 x Gigabyte GTX 465 SLI posting issue

I have a GB X58A-UD3R rev. 2 mobo and running SLI with 2 GTX 460's. At the beginning i had major problems which were mostly shutdowns and not being able to even run the computer but everything was fixed after running Driver sweeper and removing everything related to Nvidia. After that i removed Realtek LAN drivers and installed the latest version again. Problems were solved. Those cards are natively OC'd also.

you might need a gpu bios update too to fix things as those cards have only just been released, flashing the gpu bios is pretty straight forward

Re: GA-EX58A-UD3R and 2 x Gigabyte GTX 465 SLI posting issue

C'mon guys, your leading me in circles.

this system was freshly build, had a new x58a-ud3r rev2, fresh XP installation, in sli and out of sli had major problems.
also had Win7 Pro, no change.

Then it had a second x58a-ud3r mobo installed with a fresh win7 pro install, no change at all to the problems.

then it had the x58a-ud3r replaced with an asus p6x58d-e, fresh win7 pro install, single cards work proper now, sli still has problems when aero is enabled.

theres no bios updates for the cards

I have tried at least 5 different forceware versions, they make absolutely no difference to this issue, its a problem with the cards, we all know that the dud 470 yeild becomes the 465 anyway and that they just cripple some shaders and what not, and yes the bios for them is probably first revision and maybe if the issue gets discovered and addressed in taiwan on gigabytes end then I may see a bios fix for these cards in future, but that is not going to occur over night.

Ive spent a few weeks changing hardware and determining the problem on this system, I was sure the mobo change was going to fix most to all problems, It was a shame to find that the cards have so much instability in sli, but that is just the way it is, no amount of tweaking to the pcie bus/volts or anywhere else seem to have helped make it more stable.

for the owner of this rig I'm leaving them the choice SLI without Aero, or no SLI with Aero, thanks to the cards immaturity, theres nothing more I can do really.

i know theres no recent gpu bios yet,but if this is a problem with the graphic card bios they will release a revised version to fix it,or could be poor nvidia drivers for sli, either way your not gonna fix it in time for your customer, i was just suggesting what i thought it could be idk,if its unstable on two manufacturers mb's then 100% its gpu related, either drivers or bios

Re: GA-EX58A-UD3R and 2 x Gigabyte GTX 465 SLI posting issue

I know what you mean, that is partly why I was stressing because, I want the SLI to be perfect for them with aero and everything before they took it back.

They still wanted it for nV surround, and wern't fussed on Aero, so thats good, since they can use it as-is until a bios comes out which will fix up the odd aero/logon(in sli) instability the cards suffer.

Funny enough, I was working later today on two Intel desktop systems which have Gigabyte 5450's, I made the mistake of trusting the supplied driver disc (CCC 8.7 :S ) needless to say, the moment I tried enabling aero, the whole display when corrupt!

after a hard reset, I removed those nasty drivers and put on 10.7 and then they were golden. hehe, that was a good reminder as to why I never normally use the supplied discs with graphics cards. (or WSUS network drivers for that matter) :)

So yeah, scratch this one as a sort of partially solved. I got one of the two major issues sorted by changing the mobo (single GPU incompatibility fault) but as for the SLI/Aero fault, that is on the back burner until a bios is out for the 465s.
