    Re: i7 980x & GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 1.0)

For QPI/Vtt you just need to be sure to keep QPI/Vtt within .5 of the dram voltage, meaning if you use 1.65V dram voltage the QPI/Vtt must be 1.15V or above

For 980X uncore only needs to be 1.5x memory multiplier, but still can be anywhere above that if you want. So the new rule for you on Uncore would be uncore multi must be (1.5x - 2+) x memory multiplier

So for 10x memory multi the lowest you need to use would be 15, but you can still use 15-20+ if you want..... Simple = Uncore must be 15-xx for 10x memory multi

QPI link just keep under 8.0Gt/s and you should be fine

        okay update at 4.5GHz:
        - Intel Burn 20 Passes (memory underclocked)
        - Linx 20 Passes (memory underclocked)
        - Mem Test: Overclocked memory to 2000MHz Currently at 103.3% Coverage 0 Errors (will let run to 1000% coverage)
        DRAM:1.780v - QPI/VTT: 1.315v - CPU Vcore: 1.4000v - Temps idle average 29c Max load 47c average (highest core hits 55-57c

        Future test:
        - Prime95
        - Benchmark Test (does anyone know of any good test for this that are free?)

Yes tell me about it I was about to buy a new motherboard when I saw the pictures but good thing they were just slightly bent to the left which took about 5 minutes fixing. If they were all badly bent I doubt I would have been able to fix them.

Nice to see you got things going at 4.5!

Dram voltage 1.78 concerns me a LOT!! Why so much?

I think I have to adjust other settings like QPI/VTT because from 1.700v on it reads all 6gb below that it will not for 2000MHz. If need be I will lower as well. Any suggestions? I have been make sure ram isn't hot as well.

if your at 1.315 for qpi/vtt you can go higher with that and back down the dram voltage to 1.66v,for 2000mhz i think you will need anything from 1.3v to 1.4v

Okay i will try that when I get home and also with running memtest shows my clock speed as 4.1GHz in memtest all other settings are correct but that one. What I notice in bios is that there is a turbo frequency and a non turbo frequency and it list none turbo as 4.1GHZ however it list turbo as 27x at 4.5GHz. I disabled turbo in bios settings but have no clue why it keeps showing in memtest as running at 4.1GHz. Also when I boot up into windows it shows 4.5Ghz. Is there something I'm not seeing here? I will try you guys settings I did download everest does anyone have any benchmarks that I can set as a goal for this processor.

theres a few programs that wont see turbo, cinebench for example but it still tests using turbo mode, any of the everest benchmarks will do cpu queen ect just click on the highest score and click refresh and it will run the test and display a result

So is this turbo something with 980x that can't be disabled? Why does Memtest show my overclock speed as 4.1GHz when bios shows 4.5GHz. I'm starting to get confused about this chip!

its the software, intel turbo boost can be enabled or disabled, some programs cant read that turbo is enabled hence the two readings one with turbo 4.5ghz and the other that cant see that turbo is enabled 4.1ghz,its nothing to worry about its just the program your using cant see turbo

Okay cool. Thanks for all your help so far. On CPU Clock Ratio Multi being that you can go higher on a 980x is going higher actually better? I see some people only at 23-27 is there a reason for this if going higher would mean you can clock better right?

i higher multiplier isnt always the best regarding stability and voltages, higher multies usually need more voltage, its better to back down a little and use less voltage and a higher bclk, some cpu's are more stable with even multi's and some like odd multipliers you will have to test

Okay this is weird just ran the cinebench test as you guys said that is good ran it and got a sore of 9.10 however when it reports speed its showing the non turbo speed at 4.15GHz when CPU-Z and everything else is showing it at 4.5GHz is this really normal? There has to be a way to either set this lower non turbo frequency to match my clock speed so that certain programs can read just that speed and not this 4.15GHz. Any one else see this in the bios? I'm using a beta version bios so 1st time I have ever seen this. Other bios didn't have this in there so wonder if I should switch back to regular bios instead of beta but I'm not sure if that will correct problem or not.
