  • performance vs cost

I have a system which is still viable
    Memory
Mine ddr2,cost originally-like 50% of cost now sad.
Hi lvl ddr2 mem,its priced to make it uneconomic vs NEW ddr3 stuff now.

I personally have started to drop my overclock down to the 450-460 cpu ref(1800-1840) fsb for memory tweaking around that speed.

As long as there is some gx card improvement on pci express,my next "bang for your buck" impovement seems to be something like a gtx 460 nvidia card.

the ddr2 memory(unless you already have some from when it was good value),seems waay too expensive now.

Value ram ddr3,seems no worse > so once again marketing is nudging us o upgrade.
    Current Systems:

    Asrock p67 Extreme6.............. Gigabyte EP-45 UD3 ...................... Gigabyte 73 PVM S2
    Intel i5 2500k 4.8ghz................ Intel Q8400 3.8ghz......................... Intel D820 2.8ghz

    Re: performance vs cost

Do you want to add more ram or just tweak what you have?

I bought the same ram you have (G.Skill Pi Black PC6400) for $65 used/shipped. I see it go for $60~70 every now and then. Thinking of getting 4 more GB.

I used to have some budget XMS2 rated at 5-5-5-12 at 1.9V. I like staying behind the curve to save money though I did see reviews on Newegg of the Pi Black selling for $45~50 last year.

Using a 9600GT SSC right now that I bought for $63 new sixth months after it came out. Should be receiving my 768MB GTX 460 today that might have a total cost of $135 if I can get $15 for the Just Cause 2 key (used bing cashback and the entertainment book coupon).
