GA-X58A-UD3R Revision 2 sometimes doesn't boot

Hi, I recently purchased a GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 and it will not stay on half the time. To test it, I unplugged everything except the CPU fan, 1 stick of ram in Slot 1 and made sure the 24pin and 8pin connectors were properly inserted. Suspecting that the case was shorting it, I removed the motherboard from the case and placed it on a piece of cardboard with all the previously mentioned connections in and the problem persists. When it does seem to work, it will give a long beep then 2 short ones which I assume is normal since there's no video card connected. Otherwise, it will turn on then turn off after 1 second. I would appreciate any help in remedying this. I don't have another power supply to test this with. I'm using a Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W.

is it crashing when in windows or wont it get to windows??

Windows is not even installed on the PC yet. These parts were purchased earlier this week. I haven't even put the hard drive in.

so its just powering up with leds lit and cpu fan spinning the looping like that?? have you removed the mb battery for 30mins then put back in and try

The primary problem is that the board turns off after 1 second after I hit the power switch. I'll try removing the battery.

you need to go through things one at a time though first,another thing is to makesure the heatsink is fully fitted/seated correctly,if its not it will overheat and cycle like your discribing,would be good if you could borrow a spare psu to try aswell,pref one of another brand,made sure you installed memory in white slots only??

what chip are you using?? 920/930 or 980x? if 980x it could be bios incompatible needing a 920/930 chip so you can flash bios to one that supports 980x chip

is your psu a new one or taken from another system? you really need to test with another unit if you can,thats if clearing the cmos by removing mb battery doesnt fix it

first component i would switch out with another is psu,ive seen lots that just wouldnt boot up or would randomly crash while loading windows,brands like zalman and certain ocz models are best avoided,corsair is a good brand but still could be faulty/incompatible unit,if its not psu then its leaning towards faulty mb,i wouldnt rule out ram either but top of my list would be psu
