  • Question about X58A UD5 Rev 1

    Hello everyone,

I've been waiting on Rev 2 to build, but I'm quickly running out of free time, and in a few weeks I'll have none (college starts).

My concern is the ability to OC the 980x down the road if I choose to purchase one. There will be no dice, LN2, or phase, just strictly water, but I'd like to know that the board will at least handle the 980 @ 4.0, that's all I'll need from the Rev 1.

    Any thoughts/opinions appreciated,

    Thanks

it should handle 4ghz easy, you can run a 920 @ 4ghz,i think its just a few changes to the power phases with revision 2 but i cant be 100% sure on that, but yes you will have no problem running at 4ghz even higher with that board and a 980x chip, ive even hit 4.5ghz with my board and its an older model

Yes, it will be fine at 4-4.4+ on water, no problem!

Thanks LSD, I knew it was fine for quds, but was unsure of the hexacores.

I do have a few questions for you though.

I searched and didn't come up with an overclocking guide to that particular board, if there is one here, could you let me know where to find it?

You had put a list up of what error codes meant. I did find it, but it took me to a page stating the post no longer exists. Could you list those again?

          Thanks,
          Josh

            Ya it's fine man!

Any X58 overclocking guide will be fine, no need for anything specific. You mean post error codes, like on the board debug LED? If so there is a link in my signature, the old thread was accidentally deleted :)
