I have posted a tech support message using gigabyte.com but not received a reply in several days, so here is my issue:
system details: GA-M61P-S3 motherboard, 650 watt antec power supply well in excess of video card requirements. Previously used an nvidia 9600gso. 4gb memory, mirrored raid. Using latest publically available patch F7f. Also use bios password.
problem: System takes several minutes to boot with HD 5770. During this time system clicks about 10 times, DVD drive accessed numerous times. Once bios password is reached, system behaves normally, ATI card works normally (thus this is not a windows 7 driver problem).
Attempted fixes: No overclocking. Problem still exists after turning other devices off in bios, including ide. Reinstall nvidia 9600 and problem goes away. Reflashed bios, cleared bios data both during flash and after flash then manually reentered settings
On the russian gigabyte forums the same problem is described and the f7g bios fixed the issue: Google Translate
Here is the translation for the last part, in case it is not fully translated:

Riply, after changing BIOS F7F on F7g problem is solved! Running is the second attempt, ie 2-3 seconds, which is very happy! My thanks! Very grateful!
Thus I would like the official giagabyte bios update F7g for the M61p-S3.
This issue is also reported by others using other 5000 series ati cards on amd motherboards with nvidia chipsets.
Indeed this problem also exists with the gigabyte m57sli-S4 rev 2.0 which was fixed with the FHm bios, which is also not posted. See http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=2116.0I also own one of these motherboards and thus would also like this FHm bios update.
P.S.: Utimately, I wish the gigabyte would publicly post these beta fixes and list the issues that have been attempted to be fixed. Then others with 5000 series ATI would benefit.
