try above settings for 3.8ghz and 1800mhz ram,you will have better luck running cpu at 21x rather than 22x,it uses less voltage and is more stable,same goes for ram speed at 1800mhz,less voltage/heat and more stable than 2000mhz

I have booted 3.96ghz ? I can only seem to hit 3.6 or 4 ? (whats going on :/) ...

it posted etc ... I'm on 4 .. right now eep .. too much too much ?!

(turbo boost, need be disabled? would this be right .. can anyone just chime in for me .. I would not like to change anything without some confirmation xD) !!

you need to set 21x cpu multi and maybe disable intel turbo boost with that chip as it has a 22x cpu multi where as the 920 only has 21x

you can enable C3/C6/C7 State Support and eist too

thanks for all your help wazza, I truly appreciate it !! great stuff, it booted very fast! I am impressed.. big step up from 4gb/1066/e8400/p35 4ghz ... :D

I got a BSOD, I hadn't set it in windows to not auto restart ... chances are the voltage was not sufficient? I have thrown it up to 1.25! will let u know how I go!

temps are massive. ... 40+ idle ? is this usual .. I think the incorrect method for using thermal paste was applied... ? it was spread evenly over the entire surface of cpu ? ...

played a few games.. love the speed... ! its quite rather incredible ! tks again !!! maybe tomorrow take off cpu fan and re-apply with a better method ?

yh you might need to tweak cpu or qpi/vtt voltage a little,but not too far from what i said

had another bsod, I set 8 8 8 24 1 ? would that be fine for the memory ? I have now set it on auto .... guessing that maybe it was what caused the problem ? I disabled restart on bsod .. and will come back with an error code message if I get it again ?!

I made the QPI/VTT 1.34000 ? does this sound like the kind of adjustment u meant ? set memory back to 8 8 8 24 1 etc ..

if the rams rated at 8-8-8-24 then yh set to that,and qpi/vtt 1.34000 is ok you might need more if it blue screens again just add two clicks up on it,error code 124 is not enough qpi,error code 101 is not enough cpu voltage

ran solid for about 3 and a half hours, I'm going to try (well I just did) put the vcore back to normal setting .. (1.25v was getting too hot for my liking!! personal .. preference) .. hoping the QPI ? VTT voltage was the one that caused the instability /blu scren ... I'll play a few games for a few hours and see how things go, if I dont report back .. all went well !!

no luck, bsod, dropping vcore to 1.21250etc ? if I do not report back THIS ONE worked ... xD ... cpuz showing 1.184v

Hi KestrelFF, I see we have the same CPU cooler, and nearly the same system/case (I have the HAF X). May I ask what your Idle and load temps are with it?

BTW, I'm only overclocked to 3.5 as this is good enough for me.

160 x 21 (turbo enabled)
My V-Core is 1.875v
QPI/Vtt is 1.25v
RAM is 1.640v
Memory is 8-8-8-20-1

I only just booted a little while ago .. and only hopped on the internet so far 41 37 41 37 .. ? this is uhh CORETEMP 0.99.7

load temps ? take the reading from .. highest temperature hit ? .... I am scared to look! ... its 14cm fan (is this right?) and only ... 1200rpm's (cpu cooler?) so... not as agressive as ... I guess? it could (should?) be ... xD

idle temps are fine,you need to download prime95 and do blend test to put 100% load on cpu,look in overclocking tools on main forum page to download it,i hit around 72-75c max load using akasa 1700rpm fan,use easytune to set your cpu fanspeed set manual and then 50c on each slider and set fanspeed to 75% or 90% seeing you have 1200rpm fan, best to stay below 80c on the cores when stress testing

ok wazza! tks for info ... when I get the bravery I will run p95 ? *seeing other people approach me... HUG TOWER DEFENSIVELY* ... last time I used this program .. I hit ? run or test, (blend) whichever it is .. and my core voltage was too much too much and before I knew it .. (or how to stop it) my temperature hit 100c .. and thermal (safety thing? bsod ) shutdown occured, last time I met mr prime .. we left each other on bad terms !! xD

man I hate that thing ... I stopped it as soon as test 2 began .. core 1 exceeded 82c ? 83 77 80 73, now they are .. uhh idle .. ish ... 43 38 43 36 .... zzz evil prime! ..

maybe its you cooler being a flat type,just keep your eye on things now as your using the pc from day to day,as long as its stable in games/desktop its rare you will ever stress it 100% and if you did it wouldnt be for long,only other option is to lower your oc or maybe buy a better cooler like a prolimatech megahelems
