Re: H55M-UD2H confusion with BIOS settings

the normal voltage setting in bios should set it to stock,as for qpi/vtt it will tell you it in easytune/tuner/advanced/voltage1...you should only need between 1.5-1.2v for qpi

You will have to tinker and test until you find what Bclk you can use with keeping stock (manually set or Normal) voltages, it all depends on your CPU

Re: H55M-UD2H confusion with BIOS settings

So far I pulled off few hours of Prime95 with BCLK of 170. Looks like default VCORE is 1.16V, although I thought it was less.

Overclocking aside - is it normal that i3 system feels kinda "unresponsive"? Compared to P45 on my table, this one looks like easily choking, with slower disk operations etc. I really don't know what to expect, because i3 is the cheap CPU, but is also much newer architecture and MIGHT be supposed to be faster than C2D. Maybe I'm dreaming :D

they suppossed to be faster than c2d,even faster than q6600 quads, are you using turbo boost and multithreading? you should run with those without any issue, running ram at spec speed and timings? updated all the intel inf drivers from website?

Re: H55M-UD2H confusion with BIOS settings

Everything is up to date. I do not use HT because I see no point in it on this pc. I might switch it back on when I am done with testing though.
Turbo boost is not present on i3 afaik.

thats probably why it doesnt feel responsive as transfering files/disk operations should support hyperthreading ect, there good chips though from what ive read,i wouldnt mind doing a build around one

ADDED: heres a good benchmark link for i3 vs q6600

Re: H55M-UD2H confusion with BIOS settings

3 years worth of necro, wow... But I had to :P
I started messing with this ancient PC again, and can't seem to get any reasonable overclock out of it, or rather, I can't get it stable.
I can't get past 160MHz BCLK no matter what I do, and I already have QPI/VTT voltage at 1.310V, which is very high.
Any rough ideas what could be the problem? Definitely not CPU, that proved to have some more headroom (stock voltages, ~3.5GHz passed 12 hours in Prime95 without problems). I also set voltages to normal, underclocked iGPU, set memory according to specs.
Oh, the memory is some 1.65V Kingston HyperX 1600MHz.

Anyone remembers the drill of this platform by chance?

Re: H55M-UD2H confusion with BIOS settings

                  Weird, weird, weird.
It looks like the board doesn't like >1600MHz memory speed.
After some blind trial and error, I realized I can boot and even run Prime95 at 200MHz BCLK and 1.150V QPI/VTT. That's pretty cool. The memory problem not so much, though. 160MHz BCLK seems to be running fine, but 166 makes Prime95 produce errors when set to use lots of memory. I don't think I want to try to push QPI/VTT higher than 1.3V. What do I do?

Preliminary conclusion says this is yet another case of a board completely incompatible with XMP. Bah.

                        try manually setting the memory

spd system memory multiplier set to give you as close to rated ram speed as possible

then set manual timings/quick and enter the timings

                        then set dram voltage
