    Re: New GA-P55A-UD4P system

i dont think it will run your ram at 1600mhz without raising the cpu to 3.2ghz,it depends on the bclk number what you can use for ram multiplier, you might be able to use 1440mhz ram speed at stock cpu bclk, why dont you want to run at 3.2ghz?? that cpu will run fine at that speed,if temps are high just set the cpu and qpi/vtt voltage manually, and to set your own memory speed without xmp you need to set the spd system multiplier

      Re: New GA-P55A-UD4P system

Thanks Wazza, the CPU is @2.8ghz up from the standard 2.66ghz, which I'm beginning to like, temps are around about 50c which I think are acceptable (just worried about summer, I live in Sysney, Australia). But your right "why not run" at the higher speed, it seems to be very stable & I'll keep monitoring over the coming days.
      Again thanks Wazza Regards Loosehaed

          Re: New GA-P55A-UD4P system

sorry i just glanced at your first post so it didnt sink in fully,2.8ghz is normal as the i series chips have intel turbo boost,it will auto overclock your cpu when needed from 2.66 to 2.8ghz it has nothing to do with xmp,xmp just sets the ram speed/timing/qpi/vtt voltage,if you want to use all your rams rated speed then either set it to xmp or set it manually and usually you will need to raise the cpu bclk to hit 1600mhz on your ram, this is normal,if you want your cpu to run at a constant 2.66ghz then just disable intel turbo boost but imo its not needed as itspart of the cpu design,50c is fine i7's run hotter than the older chips anything below 79c is safe
