This question is not for me but a co-worker. He recently got a new rig. i7-920 with a Dark Knight CPU cooler.
Right now, he can OC to 3.4Ghz and top around 63C - 65C. Ive been reading about on the net and came across a few threads stating that disabling HT (hyperthreading) will lower cpu temps 5C-10C and allow the user to OC higher / more stable.
His Vcore = 1.21v currently. w/ 9GB DDR3 memory. ( The stable OC isnt the issue. We've tackled that. Just curious about the HT )
IS HT over-rated? Would disabling it, and going higher on his physical cores yeild higher preformance?
Im just touching base here to see if this can be verified before I give him this info. Ideally he would like to hit 3.8Ghz.
Any info in regards to this would be much apprecaited!
Thank you kindly.
