• New GA-P55A-UD4P & new to RAID setup

I'll be putting together a new GA-P55A-UD4P system over the next week & setting up RAID0 (2x Samsung spinpoint 1TB drives) on the Intel SATA2_0 & SATA2_1 ports. I'm new to RAID & I need a few points cleared up. I have to enable RAID in the BIOS (obvious) 'PCH SATA Control Mode' to RAID, does that mean the rest of the ports (02-05) are limited to raid or can I hookup an sata DVD or hard drive & run them in IDE mode or AHCI on say ports 02 & 03, I'd prefer to leave the 'Marvell' ports (06-07) disabled for now. Also the Bios setting in 'Intergrated Peripherals' 'SATA Port0-3 Native Mode' does that need to be enabled for my setup to work. Any suggestions with the RAID setup & BIOS settings would be most appreciated.

Nice to see you sorted this out!

RAID and Non RAID members work together, only the disks you create into an array will be RAIDed. You should put your array on SATAII_0/1, and then your CD/DVD drive on SATAII_4/5.

Don't move them now though if you already got things going, your array anyway I mean, you can move any additional disks or CD/DVD drives though and they will be fine

Sorry Lsdmeasap, I got caught up (installing stuff) & I've only just seen your reply. Yeah everythings going great although I did end up leaving the other SATA drives (hard drive & DVD drive) on SATAII_2/3. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the drives (non RAID) but I will move them next time I have the case open to SATAII_4/5.

Re: New GA-P55A-UD4P & new to RAID setup

Not much I'm afraid, because it's rated on the lowest subscore, which is the other non-RAID Samsung disk on the SATA/IDE its only 5.9 but that doesn't count.

                  regards Loosehead
