  • Strange Northbridge Temp?!

    Hello all,

So, today I replaced the Northbridge cooler on my X58A-UD3R (Rev.1) with a Enzotech SLF-1 as my Northbridge temp used to hover around 55-60 idling due to little to no airflow using a H50. The temps would then go to very high temps whilst gaming.

Now, Idling and during burn tests I am getting this:

Needless to say I am very confused?! I have reseated a few times and used different pastes (TX-2, AS5, Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra).

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Andy

i think it has to be non conductive thermal paste on the northbridge?? i would update to latest everest first and see what that tells you

The AS5 and TX-2 are both non-conductive, and that is the latest Beta Everest.

Yep, I made double and triple sure not to get anything on the MB or components.

What paste did you put on your NB? Arctic Silver 5 is capacitive

have you tried clearing the CMOS for 20 minutes?

                Re: Strange Northbridge Temp?!

Just tried clearing the Cmos, no change.

For pastes I tried AS5 and TX-2, also tried a tiny bit of Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra (probably not the best idea, but this did not touch any components around the area as the amount was tiny tiny tiny.). Have now just tried the paste that came with the aftermarket NB cooler also, no difference.

                  Re: Strange Northbridge Temp?!

Trying three? Well the first one could have messed thing up if you got some on anything you shouldn't have, and AS5 and Coolab both can mess up electrical components. Not saying this is what is going up, but it very well might be.

You should only use non conductive, such as the TX-2 you have. Since this only happened after you changed things, something must have gotten messed up, and I would suspect you would even see this if you put back the stock cooler.

If an extended clear CMOS and or BIOS flash does not correct this your only option would be to ignore it or RMA, I would try the stock cooler first though to see if there is any change
