  • Gigabyte EX-58 UD3R (rev. 1.6) random reboot without bsod

I tried lof of settings from this forum, but no success. My computer random reboot without bsod. First shutdown and reboot, but always randomly. I updated the latest bios (FI) firmware and I want to use the optimized defaults but it's no good.
Please help me with a good bios setting.

    This is my config:
    Gigabyte Ex58-Ud3R
    I7-920 D0 stepping
    OCZ Platinum DDD3 1600mhz 3x2GB 7-7-7/24
( The gigabyte optimum(auto) is 1066 mhz, and i tried it 1600 mhz but it failed in everest test.)
Gainward Geforce GTX260 896MB Golden sample
    Nexus 600 W PSU

    Thanks!

So are you stable now or do you need more advice on settings?

I can give you full settings if you want that should work for 1600Mhz once you tweak them a little bit

I'm testing this config now, but yeah please give me a 1600mhz working fee.

What's your opinion about Nexus 600W PSU with GIGABYTE mainboard?
Good or not? Or maybe change it a GIGABYTE PSU?

        Thanks for all!

Not sure about that PSU, haven't seen many people use or mention that brand of PSU so that might not be a good thing.

PSU is the most important part of your system, so don't go cheap or small

          Try these for 1600Mhz

          Advanced CPU Features:
          CPU Clock Ratio ................................ [20x]

          CPU Thermal Monitor ......................... [Enabled]
CPU EIST Function ............................ [Enabled] << Disable if you want CPU to run at full speed always
          Virtualization Technology ................... [Enabled]
          Bi-Directional PROCHOT ..................... [Enabled]

          Uncore & QPI Features:
QPI Clock Ratio..............................[x36] << X36 or x44, at 133 Bclk both are fine to use
          QPI Link Speed .............................. 4.8GHz

I tested your recommended settings, no problem, run fine, but the cpu temperature max 75C.

But i have got a new reboot problem. When run the vista defrag, the computer reboot without bsod again. When I run again the defrag make reboot again after 10 minutes.
So when run defrag, the machine kill himself...Your opinion, what's the problem?

Sounds like you need a better cooler too!

                        Hardware for sure.

Its either a problem with A) your memory or B)the memory controller on your cpu.

What happens when you set everything to stock?

Also, afaik, when messing with memory related settings, you should set Performance Enhance to "Standard"

                          Stock? Original settings or what?

I tried the original settings and standard mode but not solve the problem... I afraid of a failty hardware:(
The memory is good ( I tested them), i think it's the cpu... What is the memory controller on cpu? how to set it?

From the main screen, select "Load optimized defaults" and restart your computer, then see if it happens.

Make sure you re-enable any RAID configuration if you have it though, but yes, it does sound like faulty hardware
