Hi Lsdmeasap, i hope you are well ? a little while ago you helped me through my first overclock which i must say has run flawlessly although recently i have changed my CPU from an core2duo E8500 to a Intel Core 2 Quad Duo Q6600 (G0 stepping) and was hoping if possible you wouldn't mind giving me some settings to try for another smooth overclock ? i know you already have a very hectic life on the forum so im sorry if im adding to your what seems to be a never ending list of wishes by members

    Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

I'm glad to be able to help again!

They do keep me busy here, but I have some help now too though so it isn't too awful bad :)

Why did you go from 8500 that can do 4Ghz to Q6600 that can maybe do 3.6?

Try this for 3.4Ghz for now, and let me know how your temps are and then if you want we can try 3.6Ghz

Robust Graphics Booster___________ Auto or Fast
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ 8
    CPU Host Clock Control_ Enabled
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ 425
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ 100

as always bud, a very rapid response :)

Why did you go from 8500 that can do 4Ghz to Q6600 that can maybe do 3.6?
purely and simply because a good friend was kind enough to give me a new one for nothing and am curious to see the difference between 2 core and 4 core, only ever ended up getting a stable o/c of 3.6 with the 8500.....

glad to hear you have a helping hand now, bet thats a relief !

just got home from work so will start applying some settings when i get 5, speak soon.....

          Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

Ahh fair enough, surprised to hear you could only get 3.6 out of your 8500.. Did you ask anyone here for help with that?

You should have been able to easily get 4Ghz as long as you have a good cooler on it.

I would set the skews to 0ps for both

                  Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

you should enable Load Line Calibration, then you might be able to use less Vcore once you get going as it wont be so low under load.

tRD may not be able to be lower than 8 due to your main timings, or the memory itself? See if you can use 7 with 555-15 main timings, if so try it with 555-12 next. If they both do not work, you may need more MCH, then try

                    Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

tried timings as above but with no luck, when you say more MCH do you mean skew or overvoltage ?

had a few problems lately, pc cant wake from sleep and also one of my games i play keeps freezing, not just the game but the whole pc, have tried various settings but still no luck, 3 mins in and it locks the whole pc, only way to get out of it is by hitting reset button...

                    any suggestions bud ? ...

                      Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

I mean more MCH Voltage might help you use a lower tRD

Are you using the latest BIOS? If not that might be part of the issue

Edit, just checked, try this BIOS

Please DO NOT USE @BIOS to flash, use Qflash or DOS, here is a guide

If you are using RAID pay very close attention to my comments in a image in regards to loading optimized with RAID after your flash.

As for sleep the latest BIOS may also help too, but you need to be 100% Stable before you will be able to resume from sleep so I suggest you not try sleep until you get sorted out.

                        bios updated

have noticed that some bios settinga have changed though ....

CPU GTLREF1 VOLT RATIO is set at auto as always but now CPU GTLREF2 VOLT RATIO can no longer be set at auto but has manual instead ? and also PCIE Over Volt Control can longer be set at auto and has manual, 0.1, 0.2 etc etc, i have this set at manual atm is this ok ?

                          Re: X48-DS5 Overclock .....

GTL Ref 2, you can scroll to the top and put auto? How about if you hit numlock key, then try to enter zero?

Ya, PCIE is fine in manual, use +0.1 if you have to.
