  • GA-X58a_UD5 fail debug led C1

    Hi,
I have a newly built system that never has come up to post.

    Equipment:
    GA-X58a-UD5
    3x 4GB Crucial DDR3 1066MHZ REG/EEC
    Intel QUAD i7-930
    Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5
    Corsair TX 750W PSU
    Zalman CNPS10X CPU Cooler
    WD Caviar HDD
    Sony DVD/CD Burner

PC has never been up to post. Exchanged MB from UD3 to UD5. Same Problem.
At power on Debug LED goes to C1 and hangs there with some flickering.
Since C1 has to do with RAM check, there must be something wrong there?

I have switched RAM sticks around and only used one stick, but to no help.

I would greatly appreciate a hint here...

c1 is a ram error, unplug all your ram modules and test them one at a time in each white slot one at a time starting with the first white ram socket from the cpu socket,it will boot into windows with just one stick frm any white slot if all is well,do that first then try re-seating the cpu and heatsink, try clearing cmos by removing mb battery for 30 minutes, 3x 4gb modules???? i dont know if the mb supports those

      Thanks for your reply.

I have tried each memory stick in slots 1, 3 and 5 without any fix.
The CMOS is flashed, battery out for over 30 minutes.
Systems hangs on C! debud led.

The Crucial website says the memory sticks are apporved for this MB. (See attachment).

You are using the white memory slots correct? Labeled DDR3 1, 3, 5 (Physical 2, 4, 6 from the CPU)

You may need to use an older/smaller DDR3 stick so you can update the BIOS, the older shipped BIOS may not support those modules.

Okey, I believe I'm closer to the answer.
Actually it's irritating to me, but i went with the memory the reseller had listed for the board which was the Crucial 12 GB Kit. However, I didnt check close enough to see that the memroy sticks are ECC!

I had sent a ticket to Gigabyte and last night i received the answer that the board only handles None-ECC, which I knew from reading in the board specs, but didn't check when ordering.

            I have ordered Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 12GB CL8 PC-3 12600 sticks.

Would I have to adjust for the speed of this memory when I go into setup?

            Thanks for the help.....

yes the default speed for the ram is 1066mhz set by the bios, you will have to go into the spd/ram multiplier and raise it to your rams speed or just below it as the amount of bclk affects what you can choose when choosing ram speed, sometimes you might need to overclock the cpu slightly to use your full amount of ram speed

Ahh, Sorry I missed that too (if it was in the PDF).

So you got different memory now and are up and running right?

I have the new memory and the system is up and running with Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ulitmate in a dual boot mode.

                    The system is:
                    GA-X58a-UD5
                    6x 2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHZ XMS3, CL8-8-8-24
                    Intel QUAD i7-930 2,8 GHz
                    Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5
                    Corsair TX 750W PSU
                    Zalman CNPS10X CPU Cooler
                    WD Caviar HDD
                    Sony DVD/CD Burner

Not knowing too much about BIOS setup I would appreciate some suggestions/must that I should do.
I do NOT play any computer games, so I suppose I dont have to over clock or anything? My system is only used for video and graphics development in Adobe After Effects CS5 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.

Thanks for all the help this far....

In Qflash you ONLY need the actual BIOS file (.Fxx), here is a guide

                              Please DO NOT USE @BIOS!!!
