    Hi
Need some help with following system:
    GA-X58A-UD5 rev1.0
    Intel Core i7 930
    Corsair HX850W
    Corsair Hydro Series H50G
XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition
OCZ3P1333LV12GS OCZ Platinum XTC Triple Channel Kit
Intel X25-M Mainstream Solid State Drive (running raid 0)
    WD Caviar Green WD15EARS - Harddisk - 1.5 TB -
    Win7x64

Installing Win was a problem but after a few tries it finally worked. But now it's running unstable, either bsod or just reboots.

I'm thinking it's a memory issue. Gigabyte has the OCZ on the OK list, however it's the Gold ed. they have and I have the platin ones, so should be ok. However, OCZ says memory should run 1,65V and gigabyte says 6 x 1,5V DDR3!! I can't change to 1,65 in BIOS, only 1,64 and 1,66??

    BIOS is running on F5.

    Re: GA-X58A-UD5 instabilty

1.66 is the norm in bios it will actually use 1.64v when set to 1.66 so its safe to use, what qpi voltage and cpu voltage are you using?? and its best to disable all floppy drives from the bios,in m.i.t section and from boot order, that will help installing win7

Yes, use 1.66 and set your own uncore multi (2 x memory multi) and set your own QPI/Vtt voltage which you will need to tinker with.

For 1333Mhz you may be able to use 1.25-1.3 QPI/Vtt, but it may need to be more for 12GB

        Re: GA-X58A-UD5 instabilty

Nothing really seems to work. Tried just about all.

Going to try my mem on an old X58-UD5 which currently has 6 xKingston HyperX 2GB DDR3, CL8-8-8-24 1600Mhz. On that PC i'm able to do just about anything without problems. If OCZ ones are causing problems on that, and Kingston works on the new X58A-UD5, then I'm gonna return OCZ to sender

you could have a batch that doesnt clock very well, ocz have lifetime warranty anyway,it still could be a bios setting thats not quite right

Could be, but somehow i doubt it.

Memtest86, which I believe is trustworthy, can run a positive test on each block, and up until 4blocks, depending on settings. 12Gb is just a no go. But after running a postive test, then comes a negative, filled with thousands of errors.

they might not be very good matched kits as there 2 6gb kits? i know the 12gb kits are expensive but there better matched and should run at rated speed, did you try testing just one kit of 6gb and see if any errors crop up?

Yes, tried 6Gb also. Seems to be better, however BSOD in Windows within a few minutes. Less errors with memtest though. The 2 x 6Gb kits are the same PN, so in theory they should be the same. But maybe it's just a matter of a poor batch.

did you keep upping the qpi/vtt voltage? youll need alot with 12gb,its safe to use upto 1.5v imo,and with 6gb anything above 1.3v and not on auto for qpi/vtt

Tried 1,64 and 1,66, even fine tuned it to 1,6534xxx something, close to 1,65 which is the standard for the mems i believe.

not dram voltage 1.66 is the limit for your ram,qpi/vtt voltage its for the memory controller inside the cpu

in the bios its in the m.i.t section i think towards the bottom of the page above or below the cpu voltage

Yes, we meant QPI/Vtt as shown above. Try 1.3-1.5, with ram set to 1.66

                          Oh, we did try that.

Today we tested with Kingston HyperX PC12800. No errors in memtest and no BSOD. We just set it to auto an all possibles. So solution will be to ship back those OCZ and order Kingston.
