Re: Simple question about C1E and ESIT functions

if your using windows 7 then you wont need c1e enabled, people have different views on whether it should be enabled or not,i think your fine to keep it enabled up to 3.8ghz - 4ghz anything higher then i would disable them

keep it enabled if your overclocks stable,i have eist enabled and use win7 balanced profile in power saving options,i only enable c1e in xp to reduce my idle temps

Re: Simple question about C1E and ESIT functions

C1E EIST do the same thing, If you touch the voltage of CPU, you loose the Voltage change in idle, that means it doesn't drop multiplier to 6x and voltage to 1.10V.

          Disable them always.

On my system I get 1.5 watts lower (with a quad probably 3 watts) power consumption when enabled, 2400Mhz 1.10V because I didn't touch the voltage set to [Normal] and kept being able to drop to 1.10V in idle.

This was much more rewarding on 65nm CPU, but with 45nm E0 stepping there is no point. All you get is multiplier that constantly shifts from 6x 1.10V to 9x 1.3V with 10000 or something like that times per second and that is just usless. and you can even sometimes hear the sound that this produces, on that praticular frequency.

My cpu also supports S3E, S4E, that saves me another 7 watts !! lowers the cpu voltage to 0.85V, and disables chache and power phases. Anyway. I disable them, safer that way.

I have dissabled both, CE1 and EIST., but now some times when the Os is loading and after the windows logo just when is loading the desk, the system fails and crash and reboot.Any idea?? Never happens before.

My system running with C1E and Eist enabled (top capture) and both settings disabled (bottom capture):

Clearly more than 1.5 watts, and several degrees difference in idling temperatures also.

Re: Simple question about C1E and ESIT functions

Yes, and with C1 revision it probably has even bigger impact, but it also depends on the motherboard.

                  my numbers are
                  CPU / System
                  6.049 W / 87.5 W disabled
                  5.323 W / 85.0 W enabled
                  4.275 W / 80.0 W low states

I assumed E0 quad would double CPU Idle power, but it was not ment to be.

But again C1 QX9660 is a different story.

What is the BSOD code (0x00000000)? Likely you need more Vcore or Vtt

No BSOD at all, just the pc crash and reboot again,.
