  • Does GA-X58A-UD3R eSata support Port Multiplication?

I would like to purchase an external enclosure that holds 4 Sata drives. The enclosure connects via a single eSata, but requires the eSata port to support port multiplication to allow each of the 4 drives to be seen by the OS. Does this board support port multiplication on 1 or more or the eSata ports?

    Thanks

Your board seems to be using JMB362 as controller for eSata connectors, that chip does support port multiplication. JMicron/Products

        Thanks mm67,

That answers most of my question. I checked the specs for the JMB362 and it does not say how many devices can be attached to a single eSata connection. The JMB363 specs say "Supports up to 4 storage device connection ", but no such info for the JMB362.

Does anyone know how many devices are supported on the JMB362 Port Multiplier?

          Have you asked J.Micron themselves?

Maybe ask Gigabyte via email here, they should be able to tell you in 2-3 days

Good idea Guru. I sent them both an e-mail. If I get the answer, I'll post back.
