  • Hard drive problem with p55a-ud3, doesn't identify hard drives any more.

Just bought a month ago a new setup:

    Nexus nx-5000 r3
    Gigabyte p55a-ud3
    intel core i5 2.66ghz
    4GB Dual Kit Ripjaws DDR3-1600
    Intel 40GB X25-V G2 SSD (for windows)
    Samsung 1TB SpinPoint F3 3.5", SATAII
    Noctua NH-D14
    3 x Noctua NF-S12-800 120 x 120 x 25

    NOW the problem is:

Computer worked perfectly, then suddenly shut down and never went over the bios part of the turning on. It doesn't identify any hard drives whatsoever even in setup, when the comp turns on, i can feel ticking with my finger if i hold on to the hard drives, but just for a few seconds when i turn it on from the bottom.
Both hard drives stopped working at the same time so i dont think there's a problem with the power.

Everything else seems to be fine on the setup, memories and all are working perfectly.

Is there something to do, is the motherboard broken or will i just throw this piece of **** from the balcony? Maybe using the warranty would be good also..

Have you tested the drives on another PC to be sure they are working?

No, i haven't. It is too odd that both hard drives brake at the same time..
Never thought about removing the battery, have to try that now.

        Thanks

Ya it is odd, but it could happen.

Check out the battery and if that is ok then test the drives in another system, or with the manufacturer diagnostic tools

Ok, tried the battery removal for 30mins + , didn't work.

Have to try the other hard drive into another comp at work tomorrow.
I really believe there is something broken in the motherboard.. :(

It could be, but best to test everything in another system first to be sure.

You should also try clearing the CMOS using the long method I mentioned here in post #2, similar to what you already did but a few more steps
