A Quick Look
Special thanks to everyone @ GIGABYTE for providing today's test samples.
GIGABYTE makes high quality ultra durable products, and this is no exception, so lets take a look at a few quick pics and overclock/benchmark results with the GIGABYTE 5870 SOC GV-R587SO-1GD.
For anyone who hasn't had a chance to look at this card up close yet, or heard of how nicely it performs, you will now have your chance.
This is GIGABYTE's top end HD 5870 graphics card, it runs super cool and quiet, the build quality of the card itself is superb.
The card comes factory overclocked at 950Mhz Core speed / 5000Mhz (1250Mhz QDR) Memory speed, and also included is a custom overclocking & over-voltage utility (OC Guru).
I will be posting a full review in a few weeks, using the GIGABYTE 5870 SOC Vs. Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X.
I know this type of comparison is often asked about, older gen. vs current, and since these are the two models I have access to I thought it would make for a great review comparison.
For now I will only include a few images, and benchmarks, for a complete set of images and benchmark results please keep an eye out for my upcoming review!
Packaging
Click images for a larger view, and of course many more images will be included in my review.
Here you can see the front and reverse of the packaging, it is attractively designed in a very distinctive black and silver and exhibits the Super Overclock Emblem on the front and an abundance of specifications on the reverse.
As we see here, even the inner packaging has a distinct design as well, using the same black and silver again with an embossed Super Overclock Logo.
Inside we find the card very securely seated in it's protective foam casing. In the upper folded area, not imaged, is the 2 included power adapters, a DVI to VGA Adapter, and a Crossfire connector.
Also included but not shown is the manual and install CD which included the OC Guru software.
The GV-R587SO-1GD Up Close
Ahh finally, the card in all it's glory! You can see the dual inclined 80mm fans which keep the entire card running very cool.
GIGABYTE uses 4 large 5mm heatpipes to disperse heat away from the GPU, two of which are very long adding more cooling capacity.

I'm not sure what happened with this, I ran this test 3 times to be sure, seems overclocking is worse for this benchmark, at least in the OS I am using.
It could be a driver issue, or OS issue, not sure and I did uninstall, clean, and reinstall drivers and nothing would change though.
