are you running you hard drives on the JMicron in a raid O are raid 1 if not then no you dont need it
if you are running drives on that controler in a raid format then really it optional

If you are not using the J.Micron ports for RAID then you do not need to install the drivers.
As for the actual J.Micron ROM, you would be unable to update this yourself anyway as it is a part of the BIOS, so you would need to hack and create your own BIOS and risk killing your board.
