  • Need help with overclock settings for 4Ghz and 4.2Ghz plz .... EX58-UD4P/ I7 920

I'm hoping someone can help me out with the settings needed to try and get my system running at 4 and possibly 4.2ghz.

    I'm running currently,

    CPU: i7 920
    Mobo: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P Bios F13
    RAM:NCIX.com - Buy OCZ Gold OCZ3G1600LV6GK 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL 8-8-8-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit - OCZ3G1600LV6GK In Canada.

I also took a look through the forums and am currently overclocked (stable for 3 hours with Everest stability test and full load temp hits 55c) running off these settings,
    Please help me overclock my i7 920 w/ EX58-UD4P!!
I've also already found this post showing 4ghz settings but I'm not 100% sure if this will also run for my system.
    I7 920 4ghz overclocking help EX58-UD4P

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for double post, didn't realize most of the other posts were posted in gigabyte forum instead of overclock forum.

    What cooler are you using?

Since you have already started overclocking, can you please give me your full current settings in a template from my signature?

As for your other post, I will find it and link to here in case anyone finds it later and needs to find the help you located, it's fine nothing to worry about!

      I'm running a Thermalright Ultra 120 Trueblack Rev.C. With a Antec 2600rpm 79cfm fan.

I had Prime95 running last night with the settings below, the results show up to 5 10k tests passed an hour later, but I woke up to my computer at windows screen so I'm not sure if it truly passed or not. Seemed a little odd to crash after an hour tho. So for all I know during my sleep some updates rebooted my comp :(

Under full Prime95 load tho, temp didn't reach higher than 56c while I watched.

Yeah for whatever reason when 21x multiplier is selected, I can't disable that intel turbo boost. I can disable it in 20x and 19x but 21 just doesn't take the disabled when I select it.

I changed to those settings, didn't post first try.

          Advanced Voltage Control:

          CPU
Load Line Calibration ................. [Enabled] << Level 1 or enabled if that is your only choice
CPU Vcore ...............................1.400 << You may not need this much either, once you enable LLC you can maybe use 1.375-1.42

          CPU PLL 1.800v .......................1.84 < 1.8-1.84 should be fine

          MCH/ICH
          PCIE 1.500v ...........................1.54
          QPI PLL 1.100v .......................1.24
IOH Core 1.100v .....................1.24 << You may be ok using 1.14-1.18 here, but you can try later
          ICH I/O 1.500v .......................Auto 1.5
          ICH Core 1.1v ........................1.2

Everything else is listed the same as what you posted.

In windows now (obviously :P) and just gonna start prime95

          **Edit**
Just crashed with BSOD 0x000000124 so I upped the QPI/VTT to 1.415

Ahh, ok, ya that is normal for turbo when you select 21 as the actual max is 20 (Then 21 with turbo).

Gigabyte just made it so you can set 21 is all, you confused me since you said that with 19 selected.

Set 21 or 20 (With turbo enabled), both ways is 21

Awesome, had me worried there for a sec, I'm running F13 Bios and I don't think there is anything newer out yet. So I wasn't sure how I was going to fix that haha.

As stated in my previous post, I upped the QPI/VTT voltage, and the BSOD doesn't come back, but it still crashes right as soon as I start Prime95. Just reboots completely.

Ya sorry, I just saw your x19 multi and thought something must be wrong if you couldn't disable it

Maybe you still are not using enough Vcore then, try upping that a bit more

No worries, I should have mentioned I couldn't change it when trying to select 21x heh. I'm still quite a newb at all this.

So I upped the Vcore to 1.412, and tried Prime95, Crashed at same point and this time gave me the BSOD with 0x000000124 error.

                  Thanks for the help btw.

124 means Vtt is not high enough

Maybe you should try x16 or x17 uncore instead of using more Vtt

Re: Need help with overclock settings for 4Ghz and 4.2Ghz plz .... EX58-UD4P/ I7 920

I'm starting to think my CPU doesn't want to be run at 4.2.

After upping the Vcore to 1.412, Loaded Prime95 and BSOD again, gave me 0x000000101 which by your BSOD errors you've posted, it was asking more vcore. Upped that again, 1.418.
Got another BSOD with 124 error, upped the QPP again.

                      So current voltages are

                      CPU
                      Load Line Calibration ................. [Enabled]
                      CPU Vcore ...............................1.418
                      QPI/VTT Voltage 1.150v ............1.435
                      CPU PLL 1.800v .......................1.84

                      **Edited**

Just seen your last post as I posted this. Should I lower the VTT from 1.435 and then the uncore as well?

Then go back to 4ghz for now, or see my previous reply

                        For 4 Ghz use 190x21

So I left QPI/VTT at 1.435, dropped uncore to x16 and x17, both crashed in first few seconds of Prime95.

I'm stuck not being able to fiddle with it for now as I'm at work. But once I get home if I haven't reached the too high mark I'll give it a few more attempts, see if I can get her stable.

Just out of curiosity, at what point do you figure my voltages are getting too high? I don't wanna push my vcore up too high.

So if I decided to drop back down to 4ghz, using my original bios posted settings, what few tweaks would I do to that to get it running at 4ghz to start off with? I think you said current settings but 190x21?
