  • x58a-ud3r automatic voltages, too high?

according to some reading I did on the internet, these settings should be an automatic dead for the CPU.

why are they so high if they're on stock settings and auto?

I was looking for a guide for the x58, like the ones for P45, and stock settings. but maybe I didn't look well enough, as I didn't find one.

    please advice.

PS: I recently discovered that lowering the voltage only degraded my performance. with low voltages even the desktop took a while to show up. using auto settings, it loads up faster.

thats too much for stock clocks imo,i only use 1.30000v qpi @3.8ghz,are you running dual channel? you shouldnt need as much qpi voltage than if you were running triple channel memory, cpu voltage is ok,3 main voltages to set manually are qpi/vtt,cpu and dram... try setting your cpu voltage to normal setting in voltages,qpi/vtt to 1.30000v and dram to 1.66 in the bios which is 1.65 in windows or is it rated higher being dual channel? set it to what its rated at on the module

heres my voltages just to compare

remember to stay within .5v of your qpi voltage when setting ram voltage as not to damage the memory controller

Thanks, I'll set normal voltages as you said.

and you're right, I'm running dual channel setup, for now.

in fact, the module says 1.5v, so it's quite weird to see a voltage that high.

yes auto is not very accurate and will always overvolt those 3 things cpu/qpi and dram, set tham manually and use 1.5v for your ram it will be fine and 1.3000v for qpi, have you set your timings manually also?that will help with boot up speed ect set them to whats on the side of the module for example in bios it will say spd manual, then select expert and type in 8-8-8-24-1T but your rams rated timing
