• System Memory Multiplier (SPD) >10x?

I was wondering why the SPD for the GA-H55M-UD2H tops out at 10x, making it necessary to OC to achieve 1666 memory speed. I imagine most people are buying DDR3 1600 these days, so it's especially puzzling. Is it because 1066/1333 is what Intel specifies for most if not all of the Core iX line?

Is this true for other similar boards as well?

i dont know why its limited to 10x mem multi,my board has 18x mem multiplier and has the uncore freq unlocked also,i think the h55/p55 boards are locked i dont know why, just raise your bclk a little to allow for 1600mhz you only need to clock to 3.2ghz to use 1600mhz ram

Re: System Memory Multiplier (SPD) >10x?

With a Core i3-530, AFAIK I have to raise BCLK a lot to get the memory to 1600: from 133 to 160. That puts the CPU at about 3.5GHz. I think I'd have to drop the clock ratio to 21x if I wanted less, which still at 160 would be 3.36GHz.

whats the top clock ratio for those chips (cpu multiplier)? they overclock higher on turbo than the 920's, if its a higher multi like 22x just lower the bclk to 150 and so on

Re: System Memory Multiplier (SPD) >10x?

I don't know yet, but the default is 22x and I haven't seen mentions of anything higher.

So, assuming 160x22 doesn't fly, it would appear to be a choice of these two. I suppose the second would be slightly better but am not sure.

-BCLK 150x22 (3.3); memory 150x10 (1500)
-BLCK 160x21 (3.36); memory 160x10 (1600)

Re: System Memory Multiplier (SPD) >10x?

Second one is definitely better, higher CPU speed and higher RAM speed, there's no reason why it could possibly be slower.
