try to keep it below 85c imo, nothing wrong with beta bios's,what are your idle temps like?

Re: I860 on GA-P55A-UD7 max temp

only way to lower temps would be to see if you can lower cpu voltage and use win7 balanced power saving profile for idle temps thats what i use anyway

temps with and without balanced profile at idle

load is around 74c in prime95

Re: I860 on GA-P55A-UD7 max temp

Tried several settings but kept the load line on auto and 1.375v in bios, real voltage 1.360 to 1.374 in cpu-z.

Rather high but the 1156 processors like some voltage.

          Nice temps you have there

Was considering to go liquid cooling with the CoolIT ALC ECO but carving some more holes in my case is holding me back.

i wouldn't choose the coolit, one broke while i was installing it and another user on here had one leak fluid inside his case,it was the coolit domino though, the corsair h50 is a better cooler better build and performance but its up to you,and yeah the temps are ok but i dontlike this baram heatsink but it will do for now

Re: I860 on GA-P55A-UD7 max temp

I have hear of several H50's leaking as well!

So if you plan to go water, I suggest you build your won setup and do not use any pre-made kit

What QPI/Vtt are you using? Just wonder if maybe you aren't using enough, causing you to need or think you need higher Vcore.

You may also want to do some testing using Level 1 LLC, so that way you could use less Vcore overall.

Re: I860 on GA-P55A-UD7 max temp

Tried about anything with turbo on and disabled but not getting over 180 BCLK with turbo enabled.

Tried the level 1 voltage settings to no avail so left it on auto.

                QPI voltage is 1.35

Some say one can raise QPI to over 1.50 to have more ram stability with 4 sticks but its not the ram holding me back as I still can tighten the timings to 7-8-7-24 and remain stable.
Ram is at spec setting of 1.65v, 1.66 in bios

Have the impression my upper big fan isn't blowing hard enough to get all the generated heat out of the case.

Re: I860 on GA-P55A-UD7 max temp

I wouldn't use 1.5 QPI on P55, X58 you could be not for daily use really.

1.2-1.3 is more acceptable on P55, and I think you may be fine with 1.35 as well.

Is your upper fan blowing into the case, or exhausting out? You might want to switch it around and see if that will help you improve temps.

My top fan is exhausting air ( the Antec big boy) but its a very low rpm fan and i have the impression its not making much difference. Warning to potential 902EC case buyers

Case isn't this big and with 2 gtx480 in sli and the big cpu cooler there isn't much space left.
Also have the impression its much harder to overclock since I installed the two vid cards.

Psu is a Corsair HX1000 so no bottleneck there.

where can i find the "balanced power" in win7?

                      and what are the adjustments?

                      thanks.

here, balanced throttles the cpu when idle but not at load, high performance runs the cpu at your full overclocked speeds all of the time for me 3.8ghz,but you will have higher idle temps than if you set it to balanced and it will still throttle cpu even when c1e is disabled in the bios

your two big causes of heat are those 480's,try a few clicks on ioh core and ich core it will help with two gpus

Maybe you should replace the top fan with a better one, it's 140MM right? If you need to know some places to buy let me know
