  • Q9650+GA-EP45-DS4P OC Help Please

Hi, I've gotten my CPU to 3.8GHz but I want it to 4GHz. CPU-Z Validator 3.1

The only thing I did in bios to get these results are:
    Changing DRAM voltage to 1.800v
Changing Bus speed to 425MHz and
    Changing CPU termination to 1.260v.

Those were the only thing I did because I'm new to overclocking. What else can I do to rise my CPU speed and still keep the voltage and temperature?

Most of the important specs are in the link and I'm using the default fans for overclocking.

Please give me your full settings, and I advise right now you remove your overclock until I reply back. I say that because if you are leaving Vcore and PLL in Auto it may be WAY overvolting your CPU.

Template in my signature for you to give us your settings, please also provide a link to your memory

            Re: Q9650+GA-EP45-DS4P OC Help Please

Please start by loading Optimized Defaults in your BIOS, then save/apply/reboot F10, and reboot BACK TO THE BIOS. Once in the BIOS go set your SATA/Disk settings again and then any other settings you need to change for now.

Then give me your new full settings. You are using Fail Safe settings as of now and this is not good to start with, so please do the above and give us your new settings and we will go from there.

You are mixing memory? This is also not good, especially since you are mixing different speeds, brands, and timings. I advise you stick with the 2x2GB PNY Set and sell the other set, it is only going to give you stability headaches trying to use it together like that.

Ok so i rebooted and went back to bios and press f7,save them rebooted to bios again. Do you want me to change it like the template like PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) --------: [100]<---Set to 100,never leave this on Auto or just copy the default one?

                Re: Q9650+GA-EP45-DS4P OC Help Please

You can leave auto, I just wanted to be sure you load optimized before we proceed, that is why I ask for your settings again after you do that.

                  Re: Q9650+GA-EP45-DS4P OC Help Please

The Optimized Defaults are exactly the same except I changed CPU Host Clock control to enable and PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) to 100 because it said on the template. ???

No, there is other settings that are different, trust me that is how I knew you were using fail safe.

Anyhow, as long as you did load optimized I can advise you, just want to be sure you did is all.

What speed are you wanting to run and I will advise?

Looks good! So why no 4Ghz, too hot?

Just wondered cause if that 3.8 is stable you should be able to do 4Ghz with your cooler cause voltages still look fairly low.
