Intel X25-M Postville SSD and GA-EX58-UD5 best bios settings

Hi,

What are good bios settings for Intel X25-M Postville SSD (firmware=2CV102HD) and GA-EX-UD5 Motherboard (firmware=F12)?

Please put your SSD in the first Intel port (Blue SATAII 0) and then it depends, if you want to use RAID set that, or AHCI.

Do enable AHCI (this will increase performance for this particular SSD) and do not install the Intel chipset SATA drivers as they do not support TRIM yet, the Microsoft drivers that come with Windows 7 are great and do support TRIM.

I'm still having problems keeping my system stable with this SSD drive.

I have the latest firmware for my Intel X25-M Postville and F11 for the motherboard bios.

Here is my bios settings:

So I'm not sure about the ones that I marked in red. Can anyone please confirm this?!?

I also didn't use the Gigabyte drivers for the AHCI but in Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers the third one of ATA Channel 0 and the second one of ATA Channel 1 both say 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'.

If i try to online Update Driver Software it says 'Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. IDE Channel'

Well I'm Lost...

I would be gratefull for any help,

Make these changes in the registry >>

Enable switching between all IDE/AHCI/RAID modes by changing "Start" Values in these keys to 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start  
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start

Then put your SSD into SATAII_0 Port, then set these settings in the BIOS.

INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS:
ICH SATA Control Mode [IDE] << Set AHCI or RAID, then once in windows install Intel Matrix Storage Manager, or update the driver via device manager with Intel AHCI or RAID Drivers (The smaller Pre-Install Driver downloads)
SATA Port0-3 Native Mode [Enabled]

SMART can be enabled, or not, up to you.

For the last red ones, you can disable if you like, they are the White ports Gigabyte/J.Micron and you really don't need to use them for anything unless you are out of room on the Intel ones. You can remove the GMBX driver for them in device manager as well, if not installed that is good. Once you disable them in the BIOS or Set IDE it will not require a driver.

Onboard SATA/IDE Device [Enabled] << Disabled if you have nothing on the white ports, which you should def. not have your OS drive
Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode [AHCI] << IDE or disabled via above
