I have GA-EP45-DS3L and have an E5200 running fine.
I got a deal on an E6500 and installed it.
The system will not recognize it and will not run for long (<3 minutes).
I checked the CPU list for the board and the 6500 is listed with F10 being required. I started with F10, then went to F11b when F10 did not work.
Normally, the system will just lock, even in the BIOS settings pages after 1-2 minutes.
The CPU is not recognized at its rated speed unless I enter a mult of 11.
If I allow it to try to boot, I've gotten as far as 'Welcome' a few times.
I also learned that if I hit reset instead of power off the system will need a BIOS battery drain or it will not ever POST.
Temps are fine (<32 C)
I RMA'd the first CPU I received, but the second has the same symptoms. Gotta be a timing/settings problem.
Ideas?
Thanks, it's driving me crazy...
Any ideas?
