  • EPDS3L Rebooting Loop

Hello there, I recently began receiving pfn list corrupt errors until one day my system would not boot up. I RMAed the ram (crucial ballistix) and just got the new ones in the mail. With the new ram I keep getting a reboot loop. I have taken the CMOS battery out and put a jumper over the reset terminals on the motherboard for approximately 10 hours or so. Is there anything else I can try besides waiting for 24-48 hours for a CMOS reset? I suspect that the ram does not have enough voltage to start up, being that it is rated for 2.0v.

      EP??-DS3L?
Also can you post a web link to ram specs, preferrably manufacturer site.

Try booting with one memory stick. If you manage to boot load optimized defaults dave & reboot. Then follow steps 1, 2, & 4 in this post for additional information needed.

        Re: EPDS3L Rebooting Loop

EP35-DS3L, yes, I have tried booting with only 1 stick in slot one. Memory specs: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4-4-4-12 2.0v (80a) Other Hardware Specs: EP35-DS3L, Intel q6600, Nvidia 8800 GT, 2x WD HD Bios Version: f5 Ram link: BL12864AL80A - 1GB, Ballistix Tracer 240-pin DIMM (with LEDs) , DDR2 PC2-6400 from Crucial.com If I could get into the BIOS I'm sure I could get this thing working. The problem is my inability to access the BIOS.

Can't get into BIOS because it won't boot?
Try slot 2, & 4, try the other stick.
Just to make sure if it's the board or the ram, it would be good if you can borrow another stick or pair, preferrably another brand, nothing fancy just plain DDR-800.

            Re: EPDS3L Rebooting Loop

Tried what you said with each of my 4 sticks. Still no go, anything else I could try? I'm have battery out with jumper set to reset for 48 hours I guess. Really upset that I chose this board with this particular ram - been having problems ever since.

              Re: EPDS3L Rebooting Loop

Have you tried letting it loop through 5 - 10 tries before turning your system off?
Do you have a mobo speaker hooked up just in case the post process gets far enough along to give beep error codes?

You might need to try steps 1 - 5 in this post.

Yeah, I let each stick go for 5 reboots before I switched the slot. I'll try the stuff in your post though.

Tried it again after 15 hours or so, which didn't work. Going to leave it alone till Friday, crossing my fingers and hoping it works.

Tested the ram in another computer, it works there. Took some 533mhz ddr2 from said computer and tried to boot the EP35-DS3L and it didn't work. I really have no clue if it is the graphics card, the processor or the motherboard?

                      Re: EPDS3L Rebooting Loop

Have you removed and re-seated all of the mobo cable/wire connectors?
Have you re-seated your video card?
Have you tried the minimalist hardware boot setup?
Have you removed your mobo from the computer case and tried to boot?

You will need to test with another psu or graphics card. You might need to remove and re-seat your cpu.

We still don't know if you have a mobo speaker hooked up.
You will make it much easier for us if you add a detailed hardware list to your forum signature.
