  • Gigabyte EX58 Extreme...SATA..Native or Legacy?

I have a setting in my BIOS for my EX58-Extreme MOBO that says SATA Ports 0-3 and the choices are Native or Legacy. Which setting do I want this at? I am using 2 HDD's one for Windows 7 and the other for storage. I am using the Intel i7 920 at Optimized Settings. Also does Optimized Settings in the BIOS mean Optimized to my particular CPU,Memory and Graphics? Or are all the Optimized settings the same for all MOBO's?

Optimized settings are the default settings (same settings as after clearing CMOS), plenty of room usually to optimize them further usually ;)

Just leave it at Native, I'm not 100% sure what this setting does, but I never had to change it with any of my boards.

The only thing you might want to change is the SATA RAID/AHCI setting to AHCI in case you use eSATA external HDs and want to hot-plug HDs while the PC is running. This setting needs to be changed though before you install Windows, WIndows won't boot if you change it afterwards.
