No the Gigabyte controller is not faster. Use the Intel. As far as BIOS settings, here is a nice guide (pdf document) http://www.giga-byte.com.my/FileList...bios_guide.pdf

Re: looking for a bios setting for my GA-X58A-UD5 and raid question
ok, i've finally got it to work properly (I tried to go to x21 on 133mhz but got some alarm from my pc about the core going over 60)
is there a way I can copy my bios properties directly from windows? or do i have to go to my bios and copy by the template to show you guys?

Re: looking for a bios setting for my GA-X58A-UD5 and raid question
for 3.8ghz clock just go in bios and set it to this, its what ive been using for a year now and 100% stable, set bclk to 180,set your qpi voltage to 1.3000v, set your ram voltage to 1.66v, set your ram timings to what they are rated at on the packaging for example7-7-7-24-1T and raise your memory multiplier to give you as close to 1600mhz,set system performane to standard and set your cpu voltage to "normal" voltage setting(1.18750v) your uncore freq is twice what the ram multi is then add one to it so if ram multi is 8 uncore is 17......set the alarm setting in bios or easytune for 75cGigabyte ex58-ud5 f12 bios

Re: looking for a bios setting for my GA-X58A-UD5 and raid question
warren, I don't want to overclock my cpu all the way to 3.8 as this is my firstime clock so I would like to start with a safe clocking speed and template.
do you have any suggestions for a lower clock?
thanks for the help up until now!
