  • Building my first machine with a P55A-UD3

    I am getting ready to build my first machine and was hoping for any advice. Here is what I am planning on starting with.
    GA-P55A-UD3 LGA 1156
    Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz
    G.Skill F3-12800 CL9D-4GBNQ 2x2gb
    Corsair CMPSU 750 TX 750w power supply
    ATI 5770 video card

    What specific advice are you looking for?
    What are your primary uses? Gaming? Encoding? Overclocking?
    Are you looking for advice relating to hardware selection?
    Are you going to use the stock cpu cooler?
    What brand/model of cpu case will you be using?

      I am looking for advice regarding hardware selection. I will primarily use this for gaming and as a home office computer. I may look at overclocking it later, but that is not something I have really looked at yet and am not too concerned with. I was going to just use the stock cpu cooler. I have not picked a case yet, I will look at them tonight and see what looks good.

        I personally love the Cooler Master Storm Scout and the Lancool k62 black case.
        You may want to get an aftermarket cooler now and assemble it now. Seems like a shame to have such a great cpu and board and not doing at least a mild oc. You don't have to get a really expensive one. Look at the cooler master hyper 212+. Great bang for the buck hsf and a great performer.
