  • Stuttering sound on GA-770TA-UD3 (onboard AND pci)

I'm experiencing sound stuttering with either onboard sound and my Ceative Audigy 2 Platinum eX on my brand new Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3. I'm using 2.1 speakers (SoundSticks II).

The stuttering in itself is not VERY 'stuttery', but I hear small hickups, clicks and the likes when playing games or music. In Tomb Raider Underworld the sound even completely disappears after a few minutes, or changes into static noise, with the regular clicks still audible: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KVCFUJZG

    I have tried:
    • Switching my Audigy card from PCI slot
    • Using differend Audigy drivers: newest and the ones before, and kX drivers
    • Disabling CMSS
    • Disabling EAX / audio enhancements
    • Lowering RAM speed from 1600MHz to 1333Mhz
    • Running ram Unganged instead of Ganged

My SATA disks and SSD run on IDE over SATA, when I enable AHCI Windows won't fully boot.

    My full specs:

    Who has a clue?

        Are you using Windows 7?
If yes click start search power options set power settings to performance instead of balanced. I have seen where balanced settings on Windows 7 would cause a cpu lag to creat a sound stutter or popping sound.

I was on Windows 7 x86, but had selected the Max Performance profile already. I've found the culprit when redoing everything from scratch (this time 64 bit Windows 7). Turned out to be 'Easy Tune 6' was the source of the problem. After uninstalling it everything plays fne :)

Check out DPC Latency Checker (freeware + tutorial).
Often the problem is related to poor drivers. Sometimes a program (EasyTune, for example) is the cause of the stuttering.

I just wanted to say that I too had this stuttering problem even while listening to my mp3's and indeed Easy Tune 6 was the culprit. This was also confirmed with DPC latency checker.
Thanks a lot jelbo for pointing out the solution!!!!
