  • Lock up issue with ga x58a ud5

Hey there, this is my first post here and im hoping you guys can give me a hand. I got this board (ga x58a ud5) a few days ago. It wouldnt post out of the box due to some memory compatibility issues, luckily the F2d Bios fixed that problem. Now that i can post with all six gigs or ram (3x2 gb XMS3 1600 9-9-9-24) i am having some issues overclocking. Even when i try a slight oc like 3.36GHz i often get lock ups in prime95 and or posting problems, sometimes it will post othertimes i get a C1 error with fast beeping cycles (this is the same thing that happened every time before the bios update). Hope you guys can help!

My bios settings: note these are my new settings and i havent tested them yet!

have you tested the ram with memtest 4 to see if any is faulty?try with cpu voltage on normal setting in bios, did you set ram at 1.66 in the bios? which will be 1.64 in windows

Am I reading the CPU Vcore correctly at 1.15v? That seems awfully low even with LLC enabled. You should be able to do 3.36GHz at stock voltage without LLC enabled. You could try loading optimized defaults and just raise the BCLK frequency to 170 and see if it's stable.

Re: Lock up issue with ga x58a ud5

i have tested the ram sticks one by one and they are all ok im gonna try the normal vcore and 1.66 dram voltage let you know after prime either kills it or it manages to survive an hour. Some ocs i have done pass this test but the issue later resurfaces, sometimes when the system isnt even under stress it will just completely lock up. This isnt a clean install of the os though, think that could be the culprit?

Re: Lock up issue with ga x58a ud5

Ok prime has been running an hour and no issues so far, not even a stutter. I have also been using photoshop cs4 and foobar2000 during most of the test due to boredom and also to help replicate the the usual conditions of the lockup. Lol i still dont want to call this 100% stable though because of all the other times it has seemed that way and then died after a restart or something. Stability definetly seems to have been improved though. Mabey this board just responds differently to insufficient voltage? My asus p6t atleast bsods when there isnt enough lol.

update: had the time to do a fresh install of vista today and that seems to have stopped the random lockups!
